"Work horse, does everything I need and more"

    July 19, 2011  |   By mfogelquist

Version: Softi Scan to PDF 2.28

    Pros

Simple, intuitive interface, great file compression and very stable. It has never crashed on my system. Works seamlessly with my networked all-in-one scanner. File management is a breeze. It just works!

    Cons

    Not compatible with the mac.

    Summary

Great scanning software, it does everything I need and then some. There is a lot of scan-to-pdf software out there but most don't play nicely with all scanners (especially networked all-in-ones like mine). Additionally a lot of scan-to-pdf software doesn't focus on file compression so your 18 page document ends up being 10 megs or more. With Soft's scan-to-pdf an average 10 page black and white doc is usually around 600 kbs. Very nice for emailing or storing on the cloud. This software has enabled me to put a 4 drawer (5ft tall) filing cabinet on less than 1 gig of storage that I keep on Dropbox. Sweet!!!! Now get busy and write a Mac version Softi!

    Pros

No pros since it did not work

"Free Trial, Scan Multi-page docs to PDF"

    April 8, 2011  |   By thalassashell

Version: Softi Scan to PDF 2.28

    Pros

    Very easy to use.
Scans multi page documents into one pdf. Allows Rotating of pages.
Works with my HP PSC all in one flatbed scanner.

    Cons

Does not allow cropping of pages (for those extra streaks if the page does not fill up your scanner area).
Does not allow reordering of pages.

    Summary

Good to use and gets the job done. Will make use of it during the free trial, but probably will not buy. It really lags on my system (Windows 7) - I get a (Not Responding) signal after every scanned paged, making a quick scan take longer than I'd hope. I wish I could crop and re-order the pages in this program before the final PDF is created, since Adobe or other pdf readers don't really allow that, It would be nice to do it in this program. Overall, a simple program that does what it claims to do (Scan to PDF). If you're looking for additional features, try some of the other free trial programs on cnet.

    "Excellent compression!"

    March 4, 2011  |   By ajstockman

Version: Softi Scan to PDF 2.28

    Pros

    Excellent compression
Worked with my Dell 962 All in One

    Cons

    Ummmm it's not free?

    Summary

I tried several different ways of scanning a 16 page document with the software bundled with my Dell AIO 962, and could not get a file size under 90mb with readable quality. With this software, the same document was under 2mb. Still easy to read. I'm very happy!

    "Very basic"

    January 21, 2011  |   By lereynolds23

Version: Softi Scan to PDF 2.28

    Pros

    Quick to save to PDF

    Cons

Had to feed one page at a time. Froze when I scanned more than three pages total.

    Summary

Fine for freeware, but not worth $$.

    "Good and bad"

    October 27, 2010  |   By harvschmarv

Version: Softi Scan to PDF 2.28

    Pros

It was easy to use at first. Easy to scan to pdf, saves to any location you want, good quality which can be adjusted.

    Cons

Problem is, upon every scan, an unneccessary screen prompted me to register the software (after I had purchased), and the link did not provide any visible way to register said software. Now the program has inexplicably stopped working after months.

    Summary

I can't find support on this product, so I only got a few months of use before getting error codes that I cannot find any information on.

    Updated on Oct 27, 2010

I found a support site finally after looking at the original email. The link from the actual program itself sent me to a European site, so hoping this new site I've found can give me some answers.

"Excellent and simple tool for creating PDF's."

    September 29, 2010  |   By DWShaw49

Version: Softi Scan to PDF 2.28

    Pros

This product is simple to operate and works well with my HP multi-function printer. I plan on paying for it once the trial period expires. The cost is much laess than Adobe and it gives me all the functionality I need.

    Cons

I really haven't had any negatives.

    Summary

    Simple to use.
    Excellent functionality for the price.
    Does everything I need.
Have used it to submit expense reports, WIA justification documents, and to share documennts with friends. Have had zero problems.
