Version: SoftPerfect File Recovery 1
Pros: straightforward
Cons: 1. if your partition or file allocation table is corrupted, missing, etc. this program isn't going to work for you.
2. all the files are dumped to the main window. no directory structure. would like to recover a directory tree off a corrupted ntfs partition, but not with this program.

"Best free file recovery software out there"
Pros: 1. Free
2. Easy to use
3. Fast
Cons: 1. Didn't recover everything (it's understandable and I don't expect it to)
2. Some files after recovered are corrupted.
3. Doesn't support mapped drives (shared network folder)

Version: SoftPerfect File Recovery 1
Pros: Having failed at my file recover attempt with a rival product, I tried this out. SoftPerfect File Recovery was incredibly easy to use and found the lost file within seconds - quite literally. It also required no installation, as it is a single, small executable that can be run on a USB flash drive. I hope I don't have to use a file recovery tool again any time soon, but if I do, I'd have no hesitation using this again!

"Doesn't work for corrupted boot record"
Cons: Only showed two recoverable files, while other programs show thousands. NOTE: Boot drive was corrupted by Microsoft FIXBOOT command in recovery console -- it has now designated my NTFS drive as FAT, which is probably why this program can only find two files.

"Small programme size but capable of recovering deleted files"
Pros: Simple recovery procedure - scan & recover.
Cons: Not able to preview deleted photo files before recovery but hey, just recover them all!!
