    "BAD SUPPORT!!"

    August 29, 2011  |   By aharperju

    Version: SmartFTP Client (32-bit) 4.0.1209

    Pros

    Absolutely nothing.

    Cons

    VERY BAD SUPPORT!!! VERY ARROGANT!!!

    Summary

Don't buy this software if you don't want to get pissed off!! They are very arrogant!

I bought a lot of softwares including the big ones such as Adobe CS5 Enterprise, Office 2010 Pro, Quickbooks Pro, etc. But none of these big companies are as arrogant as this little s h 1 t !

I asked a simple question on his forum (because I am a new user). After days waiting for the answer, as opposed to long-waited answer, he REMOVED my question! What S O B!

"Was an ok Product that is being held back by Developer"

    July 15, 2011  |   By weisborg

    Version: SmartFTP Client (32-bit) 4.0.1206

    Pros

Was one of the quicker applications that transferred files and directories quickly. Built in Editor and other advanced options made me pick it to purchase.

    Cons

Developer doesn't being told he has bugs. Before purchase I had mentioned some things that were not working right that stopped me from buying. He fixed half, but then once purchased he stopped. Error reports he can't fix just get deleted off forum.

    Summary

Developer is very rude. If you report an issue he likes to blame other things like You being to dumb to operate it, OS, network, firewall, etc. Other apps like Filezilla work without issue, but he still ignores reports and just deletes them...and you...from his forum. He is big on asking for license/system info a lot on his forum too like he thinks everyone is a software pirate. If your Server is running PureFTP DO NOT get this software. There are issues with SmartFTP keeping ports open and using all your available up as well as not detecting when PureFTP drops/times out inactive ports causing it to ignore your next drag/drop operation or file transfer request. Filezilla or Core work better for basic use. I may even buy Cute since it seems to have the same/better features too once the useless maint is up. He is in a constant state of fixing issues and making more problems, so you will never get good use out of any maint purchased.

    April 13, 2011  |   By vldrom

    Version: SmartFTP Client (32-bit) 4.0.1178

    Cons

They ignore their customers problems. Don't buy anything from this "company".

    Summary

I will not purchase it again.

    "Customer support fizzles out"

    March 28, 2011  |   By SuneNightingale

    Version: SmartFTP Client (32-bit) 4.0.1174

    Pros

Good software - when it works.

    Cons

Very bad customer support. They stop communicating when you hit a bug. They hide your forum thread is it is not going the way that they planned.

    Summary

If you are going to pay for FTP software then pay for something where the customer support is as good as the actual software.
Otherwise go for the free version. FileZilla is also a good, free, alternative.

    "Decent application, no customer support"

    March 18, 2011  |   By vldrom

    Version: SmartFTP Client (32-bit) 4.0.1174

    Pros

It does the job, when it is not affected by bugs.

    Cons

I am a paying customer with problems after installing updates, they no longer reply to my messages. They completely ignore my problem.

    Summary

Use the free version of the program, but don't purchase the premium as it comes with no client support.

"SmartFTP Licensing is a SCAM - do not buy"

    December 6, 2010  |   By WalterEgoXX

    Version: SmartFTP Client (32-bit) 4.0.1145

    Pros

    The software is decent

    Cons

"Perpetual license is for current version. The auto-update will update to next version, disabling your copy. Smartsoft will not make previous versions available so they can leech more money from already paying customers.

    Summary

I purchase SmartFTP version 3. The software auto-updated to version 4, which disabled my software because I was licensed for version 3. Now SmartSoft will not make version 3 available, so to use SmartFTP I would have to purchase another license. So effectively, the "perpetual license" is not. It's a scam. I have filed a BBB complaint. SmartSoft has an 'F' rating with BBB. Has anybody else had this experience? If so, please report it to the Better Business Bureau. Thanks.

    Version: SmartFTP Client (32-bit) 4.0.1139

    Pros

Many great features such as multi-connection, editing remote files and transfer queue.

    Cons

Basic functionality has many bugs. Support is really horrible and never offerring a solution. They even asked me to reinstall my OS to see if the bug reoccurs.

    Summary

Good software, but prepared for some really annoying bugs and no one willing to fix them.
