Small Library Organizer Pro is a database program for keeping track of the contents of libraries. Although the program works fine, there are likely more sophisticated options available to accomplish this task.
The program's interface looks very dated: it's reminiscent of Windows 95. Not surprisingly, it's not particularly intuitive, and in general its layout feels somewhat cluttered and clunky. To its credit, the program does open with a brief explanation of its features, allowing users to get started without too much trouble. The program offers five different database templates to choose from; Borrowers, Library, Loans, and Fines. Small Library Organizer Pro makes it easy to rename fields within the templates, and a separate, included program called Designer allows users to edit templates and create new ones. The built-in Help file is well written. There is nothing functionally wrong with Small Library Organizer Pro, and we suppose that for a small library that doesn't depend on barcode scanning for circulation management, it wouldn't be bad. But the interface isn't pleasing to the modern eye, and there are many other database programs out there that could be used for the same purpose. Although the program includes templates specific to libraries, they're really nothing special and could be easily duplicated elsewhere.
Small Library Organizer Pro has a 30-day trial period. It installs desktop icons without asking and leaves a folder behind upon removal. We recommend this program with reservations. It's not bad, but there are likely much better alternatives.
