Tired of Windows' look and feel? SkinStudio lets you change it down to the last detail. Everything is fair game: window borders and titles, buttons, window elements (check boxes, sliders, progress bars), logoff dialogs, the animations you see when copying files, the taskbar--and that's just a partial list. Start from scratch or edit ready-made themes you find on the Web (though the demo won't let you incorporate elements from other people's themes). The straightforward interface encourages experimentation. After changing an attribute of a visual element, you can immediately view the result. With its wealth of features, SkinStudio probably isn't the best option for newbies who just want to tweak a couple features of a premade theme, but it's a great choice for desktop doctors who want to perform major Windows surgery.Publisher's description
From Stardock :Add, edit and create for visual styles for Windows XP. By default, Windows XP comes with only one visual style in three colors. With SkinStudio XP, you can add thousands of WindowBlinds visual styles to your system. SkinStudio XP also makes it easy to create your own visual styles; just load it up, choose new/blank skin, start with Luna blue, and go from there. The full version lets you import parts from other skins and use third-party GUI widgets to help you create your own Windows XP look and feel.

Version: SkinStudio XP 4.6
"Does what it says on the tin"
Pros: Enough features in the freeware version to achive the effects you want. A Wonderful little free GUI application! Takes a bit of getting used to but Stardocks skin studio forum is great for advice.
Cons: Could do without the 'nag screen' to buy the full product every time the program opens and closes! Some features disabled

Version: SkinStudio XP 4.6
Pros: It may be a great program, but I don't know (see below)
Cons: When I tried to install it, I was prompted for a registration code that I would have supposedly gotten in an email from Stardock. When I went to Stardock's website, I discovered that I need WindowBlinds to be able to apply themes. Too much trouble. If I had been aware of all of this, I would not have downloaded it.

"The best and most amazing GUI utility!"
Summary: Takes a while to get the know how and workings of Skinstudio, but put in some hard work and read up on how to make your first skin you'll really achieve something with this!

Version: SkinStudio XP 4.6
"Really bad, needs to DL another program:30-day trial $50 $49.99"
Cons: You had to download another one of their products which is just a 30-day trial, and costs $50 to buy, which without this product, this free product will be meaningless, and there is no uninstall button.
