"Downloads everything. Does not use user set preferences"

    July 22, 2011   |   By doranwarlock

    Version: SiteSucker 2.3.4

    Pros

    Fast Downloading

    Cons

It does not utilize the preference you set for it and downloads everything regardless of size or file type. Went back to using the older version that still works.

    Summary

Stick to the old version until they get this bug fixed.

    "Beautiful interface, simple concept."

    January 03, 2011   |   By caixapostal

    Version: SiteSucker 2.3.4

    Pros

Very easy and intuitive to use.

    Cons

Tried to DL daypo.net to use the tests offline, but it didn't past the first 2 levels. It takes a while to DL a single site (depending on its size).

    Summary

I wanted to DL a quizz-taking site to study offline (daypo.net) but SiteSucker was unable to do so. Also, you can't choose a specific "vertical" navigation (say, further down a link or a page). The settings force you to take a "horizontal" layer-like approach (1, 2 or n levels down). But this way it takes time (depending on the site size) and DL most unwanted links and objects. Anyhow, SiteSucker deserves a try.

    "I've tried them all..."

    Version: SiteSucker 2.3

    Summary

And this is the one I've been using over the last few months. I doesn't seem like Web Devil, or any of the other apps are updating to keep up to the pace with the new styles of websites out there. This does the job good, no problems.

I have used it for years. It works great.

I appreciate the "Localize http" default fix. I was confused by this problem more than once.

    Thanks.

    "Update to my previous post"

    August 20, 2009   |   By OregonRebel

    Version: SiteSucker 2.2.4

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
After emailing the developer three days ago, they replied today with with a document containing the settings that were successful for them to download the site I was trying to get. He explained that my search settings could be saved in a similar document so I wouldn't have to reset them every time.
He says that "It looks like the crash that you saw was caused by an invalid URL on another site" and "This problem will be fixed in the next version of SiteSucker."

In the meantime I had kept trying different settings and finally managed to download the site I wanted by limiting the search to the site's server only.

Nice to see that the developer responds to problems and tries to help!

    "Crash, Crash, Crash!"

    August 17, 2009   |   By OregonRebel

    Version: SiteSucker 2.2.4

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Almost every time I've tried to run v2.2.4, it crashes repeatedly, shortly after it begins downloading.

Yesterday it took about 10 tries before it finally downloaded a site. Today I needed to download some additional images that I'd excluded the first time, and I've tried to run it at least 20 times now, and it's crashed every time! I've tried many different settings to no avail. And something that's REALLY annoying is that after every crash I must change all the settings again, AARGH!!

This app should be called Crash Dummy, because like a crash dummy it crashes every time it's used.

The one time it did run, it downloaded the entire site (minus my exclusions), which is something I couldn't get Web Dumper to do.

And this is actually DONATIONware! "Pay any amount of money SiteSucker is worth to you or use it for free." HAH! I think the developer should pay ME for the countless hours and frustration spent trying to use this sucker!

I just emailed the log and crash report to the developer.
