  Version: Simple Family Tree 1.13

  "Does what it says in it's name."

  Pros: It provides a simple, textual family tree approach, completely free with no nagging to upgrade or register. It's extremely easy to use; just left-click to select and right-click to edit. Individuals can be linked together extremely easily to create a very thorough tree. You can also add details to each individual, such as 4 marriages (individual married to, date, place), 6 events (event, date, place), a second name and around 6,000 words in notes.

  Cons: It doesn't provide any 'non-textual' features, so no photos, videos, web page creation, or other features, so if you are looking for that look away. The Help provided is extremely simple and I needed it to work out how to first use the program (learning time approx. 30 seconds!). So very few cons.

  Version: Simple Family Tree 1.13

  "Bare bones, but effective"

  Pros: It provides an easy, simple way to record genealogical data. It is simple to add and connect people. You can add a fair bit of information for each person. Does not seem to contain viruses.

  Cons: It's not aesthetically pleasing, but it holds almost all data one could think to record. One problem is the program's inability to show all added people. It only shows the direct ancestors and descendents of the selected person.
