    "It works, but..."

    July 01, 2007   |   By Suekie

    Version: SightSpeed 6.0

    Pros

All works smoothly and seamlessly, once you get in.

    Cons

Could not get it to work at first, it required an account set up, and the link to do so would not open. Eventually went to website, created account, then downloaded and installed successfully. 1-2-1 ok, but I wanted multi-cams, and this seems to need the pro version. Also, it does not seem to remember my cam settings.

    "Works as promised"

    June 11, 2007   |   By beinvolved

    Version: SightSpeed 6.0

    Pros

After trying Skype and AIM, I installed Sightspeed to see if I can actually video chat without having to troubleshoot on the problem. My Skype connection dropped every 5 mins and I could barely host a video chat session. Didn't feel like going through its forums to search for the solution so I tried other alternatives. AIM worked but video was shaky and the connection dropped as well. So I tried Sightspeed.

Followed the simple steps to install and boom I was able to video chat with my friend. The connection never dropped on me. Video is much, much smoother than I would expect for video chat. Audio is also clear and nice. No need to troubleshoot, fix the settings or any tech stuff. Just install and video chat. I was very impressed.

Not sure what the other reviews about the 15-day trial period is, but this version 6 seems to offer unlimited 1-to-1 video chat.

For video chat, I haven't found a better alternative than Sightspeed.

    Cons

Was not able to install on one of my friend's old computers. But it's probably just a problem that's specific to that particular computer.

    "SightSpeed VideoPhone software"

    January 18, 2005

    Version: SightSpeed 3.0

    Summary

If you have any questions about the cost, go to the website. Our most popular plan, for unlimited audio & video, is only 5 bucks a month, or $50 a year. But you don't even have to buy it: As a free or non-paying user, you can have unlimited audio calls and 15 minutes of sending video, and if you're talking to a paid user, it's totally unlimited, for both audio and video. Plus, every new user gets the first 15 days completely unlimited. Your billing information isn't taken until you want to buy a service plan.

People can, and do, use SightSpeed everyday for free. Download the software & try it out.

"It works, Its free for 15 min per day, 12 month subscription is $50 (unlimited minutes)."

    December 19, 2004

    Version: SightSpeed 3.0

    Summary

I tried AIM video and it works, but the picture is approx 1.5" x 1.5". Could not figure out how to make the picture larger.
I tried Sightspeed for a week. No credit card required, so why not? Installed easily. Video not perfect, but it looked surprisingly good on my PC (DELL 2.6 GHz CPU, 128MB NVidia F5200 graphics card) with Adelphia broadband cable service. 4"x4" window was clear with full motion video. Full screen was pixelated and a little choppy...
I liked the service enough to sign up for $5/month. I was tempted to buy the $50 yearly package (the price includes a $40 webcam & microphone along with unlimited minutes), but was unsure how much the service would be used after the novelty wore off.
So I chose a monthly subscription for ease of cancellation, just in case service not being used after a couple months.
So far this is cheap money for unlimited video conversations with my sister in California (I live in MA).
