Version: Shareaza 2.1
"Just Perfect!!"
Pros: Nice, skinnable interface. Many users [Hey, what do you expect? It connects to three networks!], fast downloads, fast launching, no adware and/or spyware, and free! It ranks the same as LimeWire! Get it now!
Cons: Doesn't connect fast. It takes about 1 minute or more.

Have you seen the Download.com NO ADWARE/SPYWARE Policy? They don't let malware infected apps in the site. And I'm pretty sure they scanned Shareaza as well. Maybe you're using an antispyware like Yahoo! AntiSpy or eTrust PestPatrol. Those two are FULL OF FALSE ALARMS.

File sharing programs like kazaa ,shareazaa etc need some codes to keep track of downloads, manage different 'sha' IDs etc, they might look as a spyware or adware for your adware scannars because their purpose is similar.
If you want to use P2P network, I guess you better need to know a bit more about P2P softwares

This software installs much adware/spyware. I just got burned but! Make sure to scan your system.
There might be clean version somewhere....but this one isn't!

The only way it was detected as spyware was to scan it with Yahoo! AntiSpy or eTrust PestPatrol. They detect lots of false alarms. And Shareaza has been with me for ages. There are no popups, spyware, or any malware that you have been talking about. And to goldengreeke, I'm glad that you agree. Good luck on your newly reformatted PC.

Unlike other malicious programs this software
doesn't install spyware on your machine right
away. Shareaza pollutes your computer with all
kinda spyware after your 3rd download using the
software.
To get rid of the spyware and this programs
I had to use all the three pouplar spyware
removal programs (AdAware, Spybot S&D, hijackthis)
Save time.
Get some other p2p.
I use Azureus now.

Hey, I got your message and downloaded Shareaza. Kinda neat,red,white and blue. Seems to be as good as Limewire. I think it's a keeper. I,m not writing any reviews on it ,though. I had been on vacation and bored,and downloaded about 300 software products in two weeks and wrote 50 reviews,and then my 16 year old son wrote about 10 reviews on games,which I know nothing about, and used my name. Had too many games and programs on my pc and I think they conflicted with each other and I had to reformat last night,so this is my last download for quite a while.

Pros: It also has a great media player!
Cons: I have problems with connecting to Gnutella1 Network. But still, get Shareaza now!
