"Excellent publisher for average user"
Pros: Fast, easy and intuitive free programme. Beats dedicated photo publishers hands down with ability to import, rotate and print multiple pictures on a page. Thanks Serif.
Cons: Minor hiccup: export to .JPG doesn´t seem to work although save as .BMP did.

"This product is powerful enough for professional use! Love it!"
Pros: I like all the easy steps they've provided in organizing the layout process - one click to get the right font for the right space; the change bar to give you all the stats you need on each page to line it exactly with the other pages; the color groupings and etc. For the mid-level user, this is awesomely FREE! Haven't had the opportunity to use the upper end desktop publishing programs that are out, so can't compare - but it sure beats Microsoft Pub and some of the other programs I've tried. A business can easily use this and get most everything they need to produce publications, brochures and etc.
Cons: Graphics available. While way different than MS Pub. in style (thank goodness) they are very limited in offering business-type graphics. That's easy to overcome. I'm sure this program has it's limitations, I just haven't had the occasion to discover them yet.

"Serif PagePlus SE 1.0 + OpenOffice.Org 2.0 = Microsoft Office Annihilated"
Pros: This product combined with OpenOffice nullifies the need to pay for an office suite.
Word => Writer
Excel => Calc
Access => Base
Powerpoint => Impress
Publisher => Serif Pageplus SE 1.0
Obviously only the last comes with this download but still I'm so happy :)
Also, comes with a great deal of templates which are availible to download from

It's companies like Serif who deserve a big THANK YOU
Cons: Unlike OpenOffice, no compatibility for the M$ version. IE: Don't expect to be able to open/save publisher files with this application.
The aforementioned con is almost neglibile as I rarely have to transport publisher files

Pros: Very simple, desktop publishing system. I have used Multi-Ad Creator and Indesign at work and both would be too much for home use. But PagePlus SE is excellent for kids homework and other single-page layouts that you may wish to do. The use of the colour/font palettes is excellent and the use of floating palettes for text size/angles etc is a major benefit. It is just so easy to use. I like the way you can paste in pics and how easy they are to manipulate. Of course is doesn't have the functionality of high-end systems but for most users this will be an excellent product. And if you need to use something more high-end why not buy PagePlus 11 - you will not be disappointed.
Cons: Only problems that I have incurred so far is that you are limited in the types of file formats you can import. Also you can get a "sharing violation" when trying to save a file that you have already made and opened again. Doesn't always happen but enough to be a bit of a nuisance. Other than that it is good.
