The best,easy,simple and very informative replacement- software of the Windows Task Manager.This gives you the required details of the processes much easier than the Process Explorer software of sysinternals.

Has a safety bar to indicate whether a process is a virus or trojan. It's not clear where it gets this information from though. You can comment each process to remind you what it is. Free.
Cons
Apart from the aformentioned bar, there isn't any additional information about processes listed. So if you click on a common process such as scvhost.exe, it gives you "no information", explorer.exe "no information", it hasn't even got basic information.

Power Downloaders comparision of this with Process Explorer cites a difference -- SPE does not provide a google search over a Porcess; I think this is no more an issue. A "Google It" button sits in the tool bar,which when clicked takes you to
glaryutilities.com/processlibrary/process/
and there you find a Google search link for this process.
If a google search over a process is the only hitch that puts you off in picking SPE over Process Explorer; I think now you can safely ignore that concern.

A comprehensive display of everything that is going on in your computer much as Windows Task Manager should do but this program does it better.
Cons
A legend of what everything is would be helpful, but with a bit of effort, it's not too hard to figure out.
