"Version 2.0.0.4003 Unusable !!"
Version: Secunia Personal Software Inspector 2.0.0.4003
Pros
Used to work great - one of my favorites for keeping my software up to date - until recently that is...
Cons
Now, as with many other users, it just hangs on the screen seeking an internet connection - dare I say, it's the "White Screen of Death".
Summary
Apparently a lot of people are having this problem. I've tried using 3 different browsers as default, and 2 different firewalls - doesn't matter; it still does the same thing. Checking the Secunia support forum didn't help much: the best advice I could find was to uninstall and re-install a fresh copy - well, this is the 3rd one I've tried and to no avail. Obviously there's a bug in the program that Secunia needs to address if they want to keep their reputation and user confidence. Updater ! Update Thyself !!
Just a quick tech note: My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit , SP1 and my machine is an Asus CM7360 running an Intel Core i5 2310 @ 2.90 Ghz, although I doubt the problem is specific to any particular OS or computer after reading other reviews.

Updated on Apr 12, 2012With apologies to Secunia, I finally discovered the problem to be on my end.(OK, I'm a moron sometimes.) Apparently, regardless of whatever browser you have set as default, Secunia uses Internet Explorer to connect to it's encrypted servers.(at least it does on my computer.) Also, in addition to the ability to receive Microsoft Updates (which they specify in their requirements), the browser must also be set to allow JavaScript.(which I did not see spec'd).I have IE9, but rarely use it, and decided to check it's settings: sure enough, at some point I had set it'a security function to "high", which blocks JavaScript and was causing PSI's screen to hang. Resetting it to "medium-high" solved the problem. (On IE9, simply click on the gear-icon>Internet Options>Security>Internet> & adjust your setting.) 'Hope this helps, as Secunia PSI is an invaluable tool (despite the chronic Chrome false-positives), & I now can give it the 4 1/2-star rating it deserves. -

Version: Secunia Personal Software Inspector 2.0.0.4003
Pros
Easy to use, very accurate, a great application if you have a lot of software on your computer.

Sometimes flags programs that there is no way to remove, at least from the control panel (this is particularly true of Adobe Version Cue and Adobe DNG Converter, which are no longer needed starting with CS5).

I have several computers, and use this program on all of them. It has been a wonderful help in keeping my software current.

"2.0.0.4003 Hangs when trying to connect with the server"
Version: Secunia Personal Software Inspector 2.0.0.4003
Pros
As a longtime user, I have always relied on Secunia and found it to be a nifty tool to keep my computer safer.
Cons
This version is buggy.
Summary
I'm sure there are people out there who don't have any problems with this release. However, take a quick look around in the forums and you will see that many others have this same exact complaint. I have followed the troubleshooting threads to no avail. Ironically, one of the fixes that Secunia recommends involves removing the check mark for "Check for server certificate revocation" script listed under Internet Options > Advanced menu. If anything, this action will render your computer less secure!
