"Great, if very unstable, game"
Version: Second Life 1.17.0.12
Pros
Constant crashing, constant lag, every week, wednesday usually being the day of choice, there are updates to the software. Downtime for this is usually from 7am to 12am PST. Game is having problems right now, visit secondlife.com, click on blog tab and read. Inventory fluctuates on a "as logged in" basis, losing or gaining anywhere from 1 - 2000 items each time. If you can't find it this time you might if you logout and come back on. Lag....the more people on the less you can move around, anywhere, even if you teleport to a "low lag" sim. Linden Labs seems more intent on providing updates before correcting earlier or already existing problems. Or, old errors that were "fixed" appear again after an update.
Cons
It is a very sophisticated game, I love it and I am addicted to playing, but as of last night I am NO LONGER A PAYING MEMBER. Tired of it. When it runs better and this means without crashing and constant downtime, will become a paying member again.

"True to the name!!!"
Version: Second Life 1.17.0.12
Pros
If you can think it you can do. This games to limit is imagination. Build what you want, find what you want, and do what you want. Second Life has a real exchange rate. I myself have made $20 an hour of the game in the pass by merely teaching at an online collage within the game. Time and time again I have run into situations that are become not a gaming matter in Second Life. There are groups within the game (such as Second Life Liberation Army) that declared that Linden Labs (the games founding company) government in the game is fascist. To revolt to Linden Labs (LL), they attacked major companies game land with nuclear bombs, cage guns, orbiters/push guns, spamming, and sim crashing objects. The main targets of these groups are Nike, Rebook, and ABC. There are other groups that work to stop these people. Within the game there are endless amounts of Role-playing groups. To name some that people would like I will list them by category.
Star wars:
-Grand army of the republic (clone troopers) (light side)
-Jedi (of the republic) (light side)
-Sith (dark side)
-Mandorian (dark side)
-Rebels (light side)
-Jawas (sides with whatever side is the most powerful)
-Wookees (light side)
-Lone Jedi (light/dark, no allies)
-Rebel Alliance (light side)
-Dark Jedi (dark side)
-German Republic (storm troopers) (dark Side)
-SW Mercenaries (highest bidder, mostly dark)
Military: These groups pick allies
-Commando SL
-Alliance Navy
-SOCOM
-Merc.
-Sparta
-Titan Industries (non-fighting weapon suppliers that choose allies)
-Second Life Sky Navy
-Anti-Grief Back Up
-Anti-Grief sky navy
-Blackwater U.S.A. (non-real life) (changing name because of copy right laws)
-Blackwater U.S.A. (real life) (coming soon)
-LAWL
There are many Role-playing lands to battle on. All of the groups I listed above have at least one base. Here are some more.
Star wars:
Yavin IV
Naboo
Death star
Star destroyer
Hoth
Felucia
Cloud city
Tatooine
Mos Eisley
Military:
Combat arena
Armory Xtream (in Armory Island)
Cons
There are a lot of glitches and bugs, and the game is so addicting that you are glued to the computer. There are also a lot of grievers. If someone has a grieving problem all they need to do is contact a Linden or someone is SLPD SWAT. Another Problem is that to build, you have to dedicate hours to learning how to both build, and script. With out them the only job you can get in the game is security. The most one can make a hour off security is about L$200 and hour. That is about $0.80 an hour.

"Interesting idea, but not the results"
Version: Second Life 1.13.3.2
Pros
If you are into the sims or any other social game, you might feel attracted to this one, which is actually an online community with 3D avatars in an utopic social world.
Cons
The program runs slow and is too hard to understand some of the instructions, after 30 minutes of customizations I was bored (something that doesn't happen with the sims), apart of that is an expensive online community, which only novelty is the use of an animated version of yourself (or impersonation of someone else), but actually doesn't make you feel like you belong or actually interact with the others. Some of the graphics are nice, but the avatar still looks too "plastic" and lacks of human sensation. Honestly, I don't recommend it.

"Slow to figure out but well worth it!"
Version: Second Life 1.13.3.2
Pros
It is nice to take the chat room to a 3D level and to do things while chating.Plus it's nice to have a customizable avatar to show whome your chating with what you are realy like and not just what you say.
Cons
It's slow going if you have an older computer and to get any where other than vagabond status you have to shell out big (real) bucks.

"A clone of THE SIMS"
Version: Second Life 1.13.3.2
Pros
A unique way of online socializing. A 3-D version of MySpace.com
Decent graphics
Cons
Graphics can be alot better. Program corrupted its own files upon exit of the software.
You must have a membership to get outside the tutorial island. And to do anything of value or interest like own land, buy virtual items, etc...you pay real money but only get virtual items in return.
Overall Second Life is of no real economic value to users unless they enjoy throwing money away and just having bragging rights to the best "world". If you want to play in a virtual world, The Sims is much better with better graphics and you don't have to spend real money to buy "things".
