"Pretty pictures, but utterly USELESS WITHOU..."

Summary

...PRECIPI
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I'm astonished that anyone could consider making a meteorology application without including ANY data about 1 of the 2 most important elements of weather - Precipitation (the other being Temperature)! There is NO PRECIPITATION DATA AT ALL in this "application" except for the miniscule and short-term anecdotal bits included in the forecasts, such as "Friday, Feb. 19: 50% chance of light snow showers"! Unbelievable.

Although Seasonality includes graphs illustrating anywhere from 1 day to a whole year of data about a location's Temperature, Wind Speed, Wind Direction and Humidity in order to succinctly convey some of the characteristics of a location's CLIMATE â?? characteristics that can only be drawn from mountainous datasets covering at least 30 years of daily weather observations, its developers have incomprehensibly forgotten about Precipitation! Sure, it's nice to know from what direction the wind normally comes, and maybe even its average speed. But after you've learned what you can by examining a place's historical Temperature profile, what's the next most important thing to anyone who's trying to learn about a place's climate? Is it really average 8:00 AM Wind Speed, or the Humidity levels at different times of the day? No, it's HOW MUCH PRECIPITATION FALLS, AND WHETHER AND WHEN IT IS RAIN OR SNOW!

Because of this giant omission, Seasonality kind of seems like it was somebody's high school or freshman college science project that the developer is trying to monetize, because I cannot think of any other realm where such an important screwup would be tolerated. However, Seasonality has been around for 5 years now, but the DEVS HAVE MADE NO EFFORT TO FIX THAT GIANT HOLE IN ITS CREDIBILITY. So I can only draw one conclusion â?? they're hydrophobes!

One more thing: This app offers no more information than you can find FOR FREE on any of the major American weather websites, such as the National Weather Service (weather.gov), Weather Underground (wunderground.com), The Weather Channel (weather.com), and even AccuWeather (accuweather.com). In fact, Seasonality OFFERS MUCH LESS INFO THAN ANY OF THOSE DO ON 1 PAGE OF THEIR WEBSITES! So why would anyone spend $25 for the hydrophobic Seasonality?

"Get Application "

Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
A few days ago I started looking for a weather application that displayed alot of information.
I found Wx but sadly it only works in the USA right now. So I looked some more and found Seasonality which is uncomplicated to use and control.
It works like a charm, the only thing I noticed is the the refresh weather info every 30 minute sometimes doesn't work. When I opened it for the first time I found it displayed a little to much information. But that can be changed to your individual tastes.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I'm a long-time user of Weatherbug. I didn't appreciate the yearly license renewal and went looking for a better solution. Since I run both Windows and Mac, I started checking out Mac weather software and ran across Seasonality on Apple's downloads.

So I tried it out, and I'm hooked. Ran through the 30 day demo and then bought the license. Never been happier with a weather app!

Good stuff here - it's got the basics for those just wanting a quick weather forecast, but also has lots of features to please the weatherbuff like myself, that you don't have to turn on unless you want to, so you can have a nice, simple weather forecast tool, or a powerful weather tracking and logging tool that you can use to keep track of weather trends in your area and around the globe.

Good stuff - good price for the 5 user license too!

"Need UV Index!!"

Summary

The only thing holding me back from buying this program, and giving it a good review, is that it does not show UV Index information. This is the most important weather info for me because I live in Southern California and I burn easily.

Why is there an amazing 3-d wind tunnel graph, but no simple UV index?!

"Mediocre"

I get the same info on Yahoo Weather. Updating of weather is clunky and slow, and you would think that with an application solely devoted to weather that it should be exceptional in this area.

Not work $25. At most (and even this is questionable), might be worth $5 if you want an application solely devoted to weather.

Tried it out for about half an hour and trashed it.

"Wonderful for us Weather Junkies!"

Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This is a GREAT piece of software for those of us who are weather junkies!

The software design and user interface is excellent. Its use of weather icons is also very good.

I also use (and recommend) Home Weather Centre (HWC). While I love HWC, Seasonality has a much better user interface, is better designed, and allows you to monitor more than 3 weather stations (HWC's limit). In fact, Seasonality and HWC are probably complimentary.

My only concern is that Seasonality seems to crash an awful lot. At least for me. I'm using it on 10.3.9 and 10.4.2 systems. I hope the developer can work this out.

Enjoy!
