"Horrible experience"
Version: Screenium 2.1.1
Pros
It is able to capture video.
Cons
The interface is terribly confusing. You start out in what looks like a settings page with tabs. If you click a tab, the program seems to crash, but apparently it starts capturing. You don't know where it writes its files (and cannot control it), you don't know how to stop it (but find out eventually that it's a right-click on its icon in the dock), and then you wait while it says "embedding watermark" and hangs indefinitely untill you have to kill it from a Terminal window. If it doesn't hang there, it'll hang after a "successful" capture saying that it's an "unregistered copy" giving you two buttons two click on, Buy... or OK, both of which just say, "Boing" and do nothing. Again, you have to kill the application from a Terminal window.
Great. Now I have to search for the files that it has written somewhere on my drive... But first, to uninstall this app.
Btw, if your display is 800 pixels high or less (like my Macbook Pro or an 11" Air), the windows are cut off.Summary

"Quicktime 7?"
Version: Screenium 1.5
Pros
It seems equipped with appropriate set of settings. It also can record audio internally, which is good when recording presentations.
Cons
I didn't manage to record my Keynote presentation. It requires so much VRAM that the slideshow won't play. Also, for some reason, playing the recorded movies requires Quicktime 7 which I really don't have on my Mac anymore. It's QT 10 time today...
Summary
So my trial wasn't a success - I didn't manage to record a keynote slideshow. Pity. I'll look further.

"Affordable, capable, & well maintained capture software"
Version: Screenium 1.5
Pros
Great interface! Option are well laid out and easy to choose. The mouse area capture with preset sizes and title safe zone HUD while recording is nice.
Cons
Video compression is always a dark art, would be nice to see preview of settings, and perhaps more templates.
Summary
What a refreshing price compared to other products and it's updated often, in fact it's already 10.7 compatible before 10.7 has come out! Way to go, German developers are the best!

"This is absolutely amazing."
Version: Screenium 1.3.3
Pros
This is a very good quality recorder, enough to satisfy me.
Cons
Nothing is bad about this product.

"had to switch to iShowU"
Version: Screenium 1.0.7
Pros
it got job done for me for a while
Cons
a resource hog: I would have to restart as it was slowing down the cursor on my Smart Notebook application. My tutorials would get out of sync when uploading to Vimeo at some point. Had to convert them before uploading.
Summary
Not much time here, but I just wanted to warn others. I make online tutorials for my classes, and I bought Screenium several months ago based on good reviews I found online. It turned out to be a bad choice. It was slowing my Mac if I did too many restarts of a video, I had to convert originally created videos in QuickTime or they would show in black on Vimeo, and what finally made me give up on it and just buy iShowu HD was that my videos would get out of sync with the sound after I uploaded them online. I got tired of trying to figure this problem out and just bought iShowu a few days ago. It works like a charm. I wish I went with iShowu from the beginning.
Cheers,

"Good enough with small errors"
Version: Screenium 1.3.3
Pros
This is a very good app to download with good quality and simple to use!
Cons
I'm using iMovie and sometimes, when I've recorded something from YouTube on the app, it comes up that I've just recorded something black and it takes at least 15 - 20 mins to get it working again...
Summary
It's a good app but with the problem I explained, it makes it very annoying at times! Please fix it!

"Issues with Audio Capture"
Version: Screenium 1.2.2
Pros
Works well if you are creating a tutorial and want to capture your voice.
Cons
Tried to capture audio from a youtube clip. The video recorded perfectly. The audio is silent. The only way to capture it is via a mic (built-ins work fine), but you pick up all the background sound in the room.
Summary
If you want to capture video directly from an application or website, this software is not recommended. I am very disappointed because I have a project to work on and I'm out $29 US. There are several posts in their community forum and several users have the same issue despite the nonsense troubleshooting advice being offered by their Support team (i.e. erase and reinstall the software, check Sound in System Preferences, etc.). Seems like this is a known issue but the company does not appear to be forthcoming with full disclosure. I have a new mac with extra ram, etc. This software should work as described.

"Wow! Nice!"
Version: Screenium 1.2b1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I saw a note on one web site that said this application had been updated. It was impetus enough to download it and give it a spin. I have been using SnapzPro X for eons, and Screenium would need to really impress if I was going to spend $29 for capabilities I already had in other software. Well, Screenium did just that. Clean, polished, intuitive, Mac-quality software, it is loaded with features and packaged well. SnapzPro X remains useful for still captures, but I am happy to acquire Screenium for my video capture needs. If Screenium were to add still capture, it would be that only tool I'd need. -
"this is very good"
