"Works OKAY I suppose...but crashes frequently"

    June 12, 2007  |   By oxobrianoxo

    Version: Safari 4.0 beta

    Pros

First, I have a new system with Win XP, and I have a fast connection. Installation was easy. Page rendering seems to be quicker than Firefox, Opera, and IE 7. Nice, simple layout. Pleasing to the "eye".

    Cons

About 5 minutes into using it, it crashed. About 10 minutes later, it crashed again. About 5 minutes later, again, it crashed.......again. It is VERY BETA, and has alot of bugs to be worked out. Also, after zooming along, it seems to just "freeze" up, and will not load pages, unless I hit "reload" about 4 or 5 times. Very odd....... I'll stick with IE 7.

"Not ready yet, install failed. Details below"

    June 12, 2007  |   By mrmagill

    Version: Safari 4.0 beta

    Pros

Installer was informative, detailing what was being done step by step through the install (Moving this, installing that, etc) which was nice.

    Cons

Install Time including Bonjour only 4.5 Minutes, but when launched it crashed at 30 seconds. Second launch, crashed in 3 seconds, likewise the 3rd launch. Uninstalled, powered down, restart and reinstall, this time without Bonjour or Auto Update. Install time: Under 1 minute. Still would not start. Conclusion: Sounds interesting, but not ready yet even for this fairly ordinary system. Six attempts to start program all failed with error that said, "Error Signature: AppName: safari.exe ppVer: 3.522.11.3 ModName: coregraphics.dll ModVer: 1.0.20.0 Offset: 0000cc1d" - Program uninstalled, will watch for updates.

    "Super fast bare boned browser"

    June 12, 2007  |   By goldengreeke

    Version: Safari 4.0 beta

    Pros

I'm running Vista, with just a gig of ram, and testing Safari with my duel monitor on a 3 year old e-machine W3080 with a 2.16 GHz processor. Openning web pages, getting search results, and playing Yahoo games, were all a split second quicker than Opera, a whole second faster than Firefox, and a second and a half faster than IE7. I did this test with a stop watch and running the three other browsers on one moniter and Safari on the other. Not the greatest equipment to do a benchmark test, but that's all I had. I even made Safari my default browser, just for kicks, even though it is only a beta. I kinda like the plain jane look with no skins, and no bells and whistles. It's nice to have a fourth browser to play around with, other than ie, Opera, and Firefox. I am really lookinf foeward to the final release.

    Cons

Still in beta, and could crash or freezeup, I suppose, but it hasn't hapenned to me yet.

    "Mac only works on Mac"

    June 12, 2007  |   By kyac

    Version: Safari 4.0 beta

    Pros

    No Pros

    Cons

Well, this is a proof that not just because it say "Apple" it's nice. When they need to interact with the "not-mac-world" they just suck.

The day apple SERIOUSLY run into the windows OS market, they may rule. but the VIP way they like to use, keeps them in the very little % of stuff.

Safari browser suck on windows and actually, sucks on mac too.

    Version: Safari 4.0 beta

    Pros

it's ok , not good not bad , not taking in consideration all the bugs because it's still in beta stages , but it aint AS fast and AS secure , it's slower then opera and faster then IE , so basicly firefox like , but it aint a browser to have , yet , maybe it'll get better with the stable versions

    Cons

lots of bugs , unstabble , not as fast , can't really judge now it's still beta , but so far it aint the best of safari...
