Pros: Seems from other people's reviews that this is highly rated by them. I've had it since the end of January '07, friends tell me that it is good, but...... see cons
Cons: Maybe it's because I have several similar programs that I have had for years and trust, or that I'm lucky, but despite running this program quite a bit it's never found anything on my computer that it didn't think should be there. The scans seem to take a long time, on a par with A-squared Free on a deep scan, I know this may be because it's a thorough scan, but it hasn't even come up with 1 baddie.

Pros: if you rely on freeware like i do then this is a must have it is perfect side by side with a-squared .. it has very good detection rate, easy to use and also updates easily ..
Cons: I can"t write about the cons this may have due to the amount of trolls cnet/download now have.
These low life sum are not happy to tick a review not helpful if they disagree with it they go through your profile and tick ALL your reviews not helpful.sometimes they create many acc so they can really kick you in the groin.
cnet/download choose to bury there head in the sand and hope the problem will go away..
well it wont if anything it is getting worse...
All cnet/download have to do is make it so you can only see your own profile !!!

"Reasonable on-demand scanner"
Pros: Automatic update check when started, fast scanning, can be (manually) fully shut down leaving no components running when not in use, unlike AdAware 2007. Option to repair changes to system after malware has been removed. Only recommended as backup to good real-time protection such as offered by Windows Defender, SpyBot SD, or paid applications.
Cons: Typical nagging free installation, with lots of option check boxes (e.g. real-time protection) that lead only to ads for the paid version. The program core needs to be turned off manually at system tray icon, it will remain running when main window is closed - and by default starts with Windows start-up unless disabled - but there is no advantage to leaving it running since the free version offers no real-time protection. When running, fairly heavy (>35,000K) memory footprint.

Pros: Updates fast and this is free but...
Cons: Realtime protection is available on Pro Version. Its First Chance Prevention is also on Pro. Its Customize scan isn't easy to do--not a user friendly one...hogs my RAM and it eats a whopping 24MB Process! Quick scan is fraud! It took 7min to finish a 30GB Hard Drive...IT ISN'T QUICK!

"Don't bother with Download.com's version"
Pros: I have been using this program for over a year now. Upgrading to the new version from within the old program was a simple one-step click on the pop-up link telling me a new version was available. That's it, one click and I was done.
Cons: When I received the update notification from c/net, I clicked on "download now". Then I had to click on "save", and when I had saved it I had to click on "open". When I tried to open that downloaded file, it told me that there was an older version that had to be uninstalled first, then I could install the new version, with god knows how many more clicks to follow. Save your time and effort if you have the older version on your computer -- just open it and wait for it to tell you about the new version, then one click does it all. C/net, you blew it this time.
