This well-designed program tests and improves your Internet connection speed, but it needs an experienced operator.
SG TCP Optimizer's compact, tabbed interface logically presents all settings and tests. We found SG TCP Optimizer efficient from the moment it quickly opened. The six tabs presented general and advanced settings, a tool to discover your system's largest possible nonfragmented packet, a calculator to figure your RWIN value, a latency test, and a quick Windows Registry editor. If you have no idea what those settings do, this program isn't for you. If you do have some experience, a short tutorial helps you quickly discover and enter the proper Registry settings to improve connection speed.
Settings are easily saved in backup files, making it easy to try different settings and revert if you accidentally slow connection speed. The help file gives basic information, although it's nothing a system administrator doesn't know.
Novices, on the other hand, shouldn't bother with this application. Its many settings, though easily changed, could cause serious system slowdowns if improperly altered. System administrators and advanced users will love this freeware's small size, powerful functions, and helpful tests.

"good product but installs toolbar"

it works as far as speeding up internet browsing
Cons
installed a tool bar (called smartbar) after unchecking that box and made my pages just keep loading and loading and had other hicups and cant be found under programs and features to uninstall..had to do a system restore :(

its a win loose take it at your own risk to download....ended up not liking the other features i did not want on my pc.i hate tool bars and the hicups it had with it !!!!!

Summary
My connection speed is an old low speed DSL no longer offered by Qwest or CenturyLink, 256Kb/s. All the settings were already optimized or wouldn't make a significant difference.

Many people complain about Slow Internet but never realise that they need to set-up their PC to receive and send at higher speed as well.
Cons
Could do with a in-depth instruction manual for people who don't understand TCP/IP etc.

4 x Broadband speed I was getting.
Cons
It has a bit of an advanced technical UI, so if you don't know what your doing, (like me) it could be easy to do something wrong. However, I only ticked the "Optimal" button, and used the slider to say what my Mbps should be, and that was all, it worked an absolute treat, all I seem to do is speed tests.
