    "2013.6 still unstable"

    March 13, 2014  |   By MetalWarioress

    Version: SAM Broadcaster Pro 2013.3

    Pros

Works almost as well as 4.9.7

    Cons

Hangs badly and does not recover until you "terminate" and restart the executable.

Didn't improve the interface one bit from older versions such as a very basic need such as having column to chose from (fields) to display in the playlists/folders

    Summary

I was forced to upgrade from 4.9.7 after finding out they revoked my 4.9.7 license and found out the hard way when having to re-install SAM on my backup station and was not able to re-activate. Had a heated email exchange to demand that they give me a working license but they didn't want to know, how legal that is, I wonder.

The fact is sambc.exe hangs under certain circumstances and this time the application does not respond again unless it is terminated. One time yesterday it was worse, I could not even terminate the sambc.exe from task manager and had to reboot and that was my live station, I was just performing a fail back after doing a Windows Update and it just hung. It hangs under other circumstances and I can reproduce the problem at will on both computers. The error in the Windows log is very clear sambc.exe stopped interacting with Windows.

I don't recommend any new user to purchase this version unless they recognise there is a problem and fix it and I don't recommend current users to upgrade

"Unstable. Sticks on Mic Release, Poor Customer Service."

    January 28, 2014  |   By ISRprogramdirector

    Version: SAM Broadcaster Pro 2013.3

    Pros

Good clean sound during broadcast. User friendly. Tech support satisfactory.

    Cons

The product is unstable. Software shuts off too often and takes too long to reboot.

Management of account and customer service was extremely poor. Poor business ethics.

    Summary

Do not waste your money purchasing this product. Try finding a product that is more stable and is worthy of your time and hard earned wages.

In addition, this company's staff displayed questionable business ethics.

I had the worst experience dealing with the customer service department; and management was worse. Simply put, they do not care about their customers. They just want the money. My complaints were either not resolved in a timely manner or not resolved at all.

I too am seeking a more suitable broadcasting product and company.

"Overpriced, too COMPLEX, bad USB Outboard Gear support"

    January 8, 2014  |   By afsanchez

    Version: SAM Broadcaster Pro 2013.3

    Pros

The user interface looks like a clean Windows program. It connects to ICEcast easily. Lots of help in the Forum.

    Cons

Too many unnecessary features (THAT ARE USELESS). The overuse of many types of equalization and compression are TOTALLY unnecessary for even the advanced user.

The PAL scripting is a crutch or band-aid for POOR PROGRAMMING on Spacial's part. They choose to be LAZY and make YOU DO THE WORK, rather than just give acceptable features. I spent over 40 hours creating PAL scripts to do what was needed.

My overall experience with this program was POOR at best. And it is not for a PROFESSIONAL AUDIO level of production. And my biggest gripe is that I was forced to buy VIRTUAL AUDIO CABLE (at their recommendation) to make SKYPE work. Then they recommended I use an ANALOG MIXER to do various tasks, including patching in a SECOND laptop, etc. Just a waste of time.

And the memory requirements are unrealistic. I have 4GB RAM on a Core i3 PC with nothing except for pro tools and a few other audio apps installed. Running SAM Broadcaster takes too many system resources & rebooting sucks.

    Summary

Buy something else. This is not for beginners and unfortunately will turn people away from wanting to broadcast on radio. I am still looking for a BETTER radio production program.

I think SAM Broadcaster has POTENTIAL but they need to eliminate the need to do PAL scripting, and they need to eliminate all the unnecessary and too complicated audio signal processing effects.

I'm still looking for a suitable program to run a professional online radio station.
