You can reduce the time you spend filling out Web forms and logging onto subscription sites with RoboForm. This major update improves usability significantly and replaces the old, clunky autofill window with a less-obtrusive toolbar. If you don't like the standard toolbar placement, you can run it at the bottom of the browser instead. That's the standard placement for Mozilla-based browsers. The program uses encryption algorithms such as Blowfish and AES to protect your data and includes a password generator. You can set up multiple identities with different credit-card numbers, passwords, and contact information. The trial limits the tab instances on each identity to three, but you can make plenty of identities.

Our favorite feature is Login, which with one click will go to a Web page, fill in a form, and submit your information. The program handles check boxes and radio buttons and supports about 20 languages. The new Search field in the toolbar makes finding and accessing any information quick, and we appreciate support for hot keys. Besides returning matching logins and other RoboForm entries, the search box will offer to search Google, Yahoo, and the Merriam-Webster Dictionary for your term. RoboForm will save active Web users a lot of time.

"Effective password generator and manager"

February 18, 2006  |  By rsimanski

 |  Version: RoboForm 6.7

Pros

Roboform is a very effective form filler, password generator, and login manager. When you first set it up, you complete a form with the type of information tuat you frequently have to fill in, such as your name and address. When you visit a site that has a form, Roboform offers to fill it in. This saves time and helps to ensure accuracy. You can use Roboform to generate hard-to-crack passwords for both new and existing accounts, then save your login information to what it calls a passcard. Finally, you can generate a printable Web page showing your login names and passwords. I recommend that you do this any time that you generate a new password. You can password-protect the program in general as well as individual passcards.

Cons

Roboform offers to fill in Web forms whenever you visit a page that has one. This often includes pages that you have already filled in, such as ones where you update your preferences. This can get a bit annoying, because you have to click "no" to close the dialog box, which sometimes gets in the way. You can configure Roboform to not fill in forms on certain Web sites, but if you want Roboform to fill in forms on some pages on a given site but not others, you cannot configure it to do this.

June 09, 2006  |  By two heads better than one

 |  Version: RoboForm 6.7

Pros

1:no more form filling, one click to all your visited sites you have a login too.the pass cards can hold all the information you can think of for your details.Avoids any keylogging, generate mega encrypted passwords, can hold several identities even for the same site using the same name, customise any form fields add fields when needed. Can handle several credit cards, bank accounts ,addresses ,phone numbers etc for any ID.so simple to use.print all passwords to have hard copy back up,or save to a file or cd etc.I have used this app since 1999 and paid for the full functionality a couple of years back.I use it all the time, its an extra level of security when you use this app.I simply love it still my favourite / most usefull app I have on my PC,especially for those who use many different sites / forums etc.You have many options for form filling search tool bar works well. This app has never caused a problem on my PC. if you down load and use it your soon wonder how you managed before without it.

"Very great product; worth your money, I received $10 discount"

May 18, 2006  |  By DUKESofHAZZARD

 |  Version: RoboForm 6.7

Pros

I just purchased it because I have way too many accounts and passwords to memorize. After the trial period ended, it still worked for free for a maximum of 10 accounts and a nag screen would pop up asking me if I wanted to purchase it. The nag screen was not bothersome and roboform still worked even though I didn't buy the product. But when I added more then 10 accounts it was no longer free so I bought it because it helped me memorize passwords and accounts that I keep adding to it. If you make less then $20,000 a year such as I do, I qualified for a $10 discount because I make between $13,000 to $14,000 a year and the discount code was SNC which I got from the Roboform official website. If it wasn't for this discount I probably wouldn't have purchased it. I also got a free Roboform extension/plug-in for my Firefox browser which worked great when I was using 10 free acounts on RoboForm!

Cons

Doesn't work for free if you add more than 10 accounts to it.

"Easy, unobtrusive, flexible, RELIABLE, time-saving product"

May 16, 2006  |  By mannion

 |  Version: RoboForm 6.7

Pros

Wow. This is one of the all-too rare pieces of software that does what it says, does it reliably, and doesn't impact negatively other software on my machine.

I had been using Norton Password Manager, which was OK. A huge limitation, however, is that NPM doesn't allow you to retrieve any of your passwords once you've saved them. Symantec technical support claimed that this was a design decision for security purposes. To keep from becoming a permanent slave to NPM, though, I had to keep a (unencrypted; don't ask) text file of all of my passwords, in addition to the encrypted copy in NPM.

With RoboForm, I can keep encrypted passwords *and* decrypt them to plain text, in case I ever need to see them again. Additionally, I use the Safenotes capability to keep confidential non-password information, like customer numbers and frequent flyer numbers, safe (I used to use Outlook notes for this; blech.) I haven't worked up to storing my credit cards in RoboForm yet. Nothing against RoboForm, but I just don't feel like tempting fate. Still, it has a place for credit cards, if I ever feel brave or foolish.

The automatic password generator is a great feature, too. I have used this to re-generate every password for every web site on which I have an account. No more birthdays, pet names, etc. Finally, the search tool is super-handy. It works like the Google toolbar, but automatically navigates to and logs in to sites for which you have saved passwords. I've even started hiding the Favorites panel in IE because I just don't use it that much anymore.

Overall, RoboForm is a great product that fills a need in my daily workflow. To boot, I can easily get out all of the information that I put in, so I'm not stuck with it if I ever decide to move on - though I probably won't, based on my satisfaction with it so far.

Cons

I only have two dislikes with respect to RoboForm. Firstly, it doesn't fill in passwords for non-browser Windows programs (ex. Quicken, QuickBooks, etc.). Norton Passowrd Manager did this (sometimes) and it was really handy. Secondly, installing software updates is a manual process. RoboForm will notify you when updates are available, but you need to download and install them, yourself. As a computer professional, this isn't a problem for me; it is, however, a pain for my wife who has a basic level of computer consumer skills and an equivalently basic level of interest in how the computer works, under the hood. It would be nice if you could configure RoboForm like Microsoft Update to automatically patch itself without user interaction.
