"Unbelievable Copier!!!"
Version: Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier 5.2
Pros
- The most dependable copier out there
- Speeds at par with the best copiers
- Low on resourcesCons
- UI could use a little tweak up; has not been updated in a long time
Summary
I had a 700 mb video on my external hard drive which I was struggling to copy to my system. I had tried all the best copiers in the market today like TeraCopy, SuperCopier, FastCopy, ExtremeCopy, NiceCopier, UltraCopier, WinMend File Copy and etc; you name it, I tried it. None of these could budge beyond 25%; they would stall for sometime and finally give up.
UnstoppableCopier was the ONLY copier which managed to copy the corrupt file with 99.99% accuracy. When I opened the video, it had just lost a few frames which of course could be corrected by an editor. The rest of the video was all OK.
Unstoppable Copier does have a few advanced settings for copying files and you can also pause and resume. It has a batch mode which is useful for coping a lot of files at once. For corrupt files, you can specify how it copies the file in terms of best data recovery against fastest data recovery.
The UI needs a makeover; guess that's because it hasn't been updated in years. You can also access it via a context menu command in explorer but this does not work; it simply resumes the last copy.
But then, these cons do not matter too much to me. It is the ONLY copier in the market which can copy corrupt files with so much accuracy at decent speeds; and that is saying a lot!!!
Definitely a must-have for everyone. -
"Fast and simple copier"
Version: Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier 5.2
Pros
It's copy my files faster than the original windows. The menu is simple, just browse the source files and the target (sub)directory
Cons
The names of subdirectory were missing. They, automatically copied to directory of target, didn't group according the original subdirectory.

Not a complete miracle worker
Summary
First of all, I run Norton Internet Security 2011 and it said this file was flagged as safe.
I meant "bytes - not kilobytes", rather than "bits - not bytes."
I have a disc with deep scratches that were not removed by resurfacing, buffing, etc. and I ended up with a few files left that couldn't be read at all. While other programs (even "data recovery") would just hang for a while and give up, this program read the file slowly, at bits - not bytes - per second and was able to recover at least some good bytes. The status display shows you exactly how many total, good, and corrupt bytes within the file were copied, the number of read errors, successful read/writes, and transfer rate. After it's done it gives you the integrity % of the file. I really like the batch mode option. For me, a file with at least some integrity is better than no file at all.
This is a good program for last resort attempts at data recovery without putting your hardware reader at risk by trying to use Brasso or toothpaste. There are creams sold specifically to fill in gaps, resurfacing machines, and other things that should be used instead. Then after you've done all you can with the physical disc - use this program.
