    Version: Rip Vinyl 3.38

"Very good. Makes ripping from vinyl much less painless"

by mikeaber on April 17, 2006

Pros: Automatic breaking recording by tracks. This works most of the time.

Cons: If it is an older recording, the static can be such that you have to manually insert a "shift close" combination to designate the start of a new track. This requires monitoring as the recording is being ripped. Only happens with recordings that are in really bad shape or during pauses between tracks of really quiet recordings such as solo accoustic guitar platters with a lot of pauses during tracks. You'll need a WAV editor to get these put back together properly.

"Good value for money, backup service."

by mikedonn on December 21, 2006

Pros: Relatively simple to use, for an older guy, non computer geek. I have ripped my best old LPs, before losing the program to a harddrive malfunction. Another download was freely given with little delay. I have just used the 78-45 option, to rip an old 'Talking Book' soundtrack. Was rapt with the result!

Cons: Some problems with track breaks. Probably because my records were fairly stuffed anyway.

One nice embellishment would be the ability to monitor the sound file as it arrives in the computer, rather than as it leaves the record player, as I have to do. (Maybe I am missing something)This feature would perhaps make it easier to set levels, equalizer, etc.

"The easiest digital recording software I tried yet!!!!!"

by pdthom on October 2, 2006

Pros: I have recorded and burned onto CD's from cassette tapes, video tapes, from online radio and voice files, from my old vinyl and the one thing this does that I haven't found with any of the Windows media, Realplayer, and Musicmatch, have, and that is it create separate files so I don't have one long music or voice file on a cd.

I can decide where to make a new track on the cd wherever I want, as short or as long as I want. And when I say it's easy, I mean you just hit shift and stop and it begins a new track without losing any of the music voice or anything. I have done it at pauses so you can't even tell it's happened.

You can't beat the price, and you can record absolutely anything from the online or your line in.

It's absolutly worth every penny. I had it for over 4 years, and with the upgrade it's even better. Don't waste all your dough on these other players just to record digital stuff. Enjoy, enjoy, and enjoy!!!!!!

Cons: Now with MP3 capability it's even better.

    "Perfect for the technology-challenged person"

    by pam1818 on April 27, 2006

Pros: This program is the best thing since sliced bread. I know nothing about computer technology. I just wanted something that would easily allow me to copy my old vinyl records and cassette tapes to CD. I downloaded Rip Vinyl, followed the simple instructions, and I was copying in no time at all. They really ought to call it "RIP From Anything". It's not just for records! Great program and well-worth the money!
