Publisher's Description
From BauerApps:
RightNote Portable is a note-taker and note-organizer that allows you to store and organize all bits of different information in a single place - and find that information almost instantly. Instead of having many pieces of paper lying all over your desk, which may contain contact information, phone numbers, to-do lists, and website addresses. You can now store all of this information in a single RightNote file. The RightNote interface consists of a notebook made up of pages. Each page contains a hierarchical tree in which you can store a virtually unlimited number of notes. Notes can easily be moved within a page or from one page to another. RightNote also contains a powerful search tool which will allow you to quickly and easily find the note you are looking for. It features word processing, spreadsheet and source code type notes as well as an in-built full text search engine.
What's new in this version: Version 2.4.2 fixes Global Hotkeys did not display correctly in Options dialog in Vista and Win7 and fixes DB search would result in AV error if notebook contained a webpage note.

"I've tried the rest, this is the best"
Version: RightNote Portable 2.1.2
Pros
So pleased with my trial that I've now paid for a licence.
Cons
What to do with pdfs, of which I have many, was no longer a problem after I discovered Free PDF to Word Converter 5.1.
Summary
I have created my own to do, contacts and passwords lists with RightNote's tables feature, and while they might not look so slick and professional, it has made me realise just how cluttered the interface of EssentialPIM is, which I was using before. I can't run a working calendar like theirs on RightNote, but I've happily gone back to using UK's Kalendar for that.
When it comes to storing notes, the sky is the limit. As well as having shed loads of Word docs, I had so much stuff in Dropbox just so I could share it between computers, but it was difficult to find things because of Word's insistence on putting first folders and then docs in strict alphabetical order. Now I am transferring everything to RightNote and not only is it all in the order I want it, there is no more clicking on folders looking for something that is in one or the other, because it can all be seen in the tree. There is also a fast and efficient Search feature if needed.
I am happy to put everything I have in Word into RightNote because it retains the formatting, it can be printed, and it can quickly be exported back to Word if needed.
While RightNote is slightly slow to open initially, once it is minimised to the tray it opens instantly, while switching from one note to another is instant too. No more twiddling your thumbs while waiting for Word's painfully slow opening of each doc!
The best bit is that I am successfully running the portable version in Dropbox, which means I can access my data on RightNote from either my laptop or desktop pc, though it won't sync if you have them both open at once, you need to be aware of the way Dropbox updates.
Cynics will no doubt think this is just an advert, but I'd like to assure you I am just an ordinary home pc user and I have no connection whatsoever with the developer, to whom my thanks go for a great piece os software.
