"Brilliant!!!"
Version: Restorer Ultimate 7.0 build 701112
Pros
Very easy to use and cheap
Cons
No complaints
Summary
After being quoted from $1,200 to $2,000 to recover my 1.7 TB (yes, that's TB) of data removed by chkdsk I eventually found a guy who could do it for $200. He got back most of what I needed but when I found he didn't get it all back I found this software and was able to recover everything. It's cheap at twice the price! I'm currently recovering a flash drive that won't mount properly on any computer (Win 7 says it needs to be formatted)so Restorer Ultimate saves the day again. LOVE IT!

"Wow, Impressive"
Version: Restorer Ultimate 3.3 build 123301
Pros
It works as advertised. For the $49 that you spend on the product it will save you cash that you would have to spend at a professional data recovery service.
Cons
None. I wish it had some other tools, such as formatting or reconditioning the drive, but this program is specifically for data recovery.
Summary
I was using an imaging program to clone my HD to new HD on my Dell Mini9 while my 16gb SDHC card was still in the SD slot. Everything was ok until I tried to access the data...inacessible. doh! Restorer2000 Pro was able to get everything off the card. I had 3.6 GB worth of music, vacation pictures, scanned pics, and purchased software. What a save!

"BUY THIS PRODUCT NOW"
Version: Restorer Ultimate 3.3 build 123301
Pros
Here is the deal, I spent over 20 hours downloading and installing applications and I can tell you there are terrible products costing $79 to $499 dollars, that this can do for $29. Buy this before they change their licensing fees.
Cons
After recovering Gigs of data, it is time consuming to have to preview each one with an addded key stroke; in order to decide to recover it or not. But the work-around is just to recover all the data and use the preview function of windows.
Summary
No product is perfect, but for $29 I got all of my data back, where many other products failed, most of them do not recognize a damaged Hard Drive and many of them were much, much, slower in data recovery.

"its ok for me to use this restorer pro."
Version: Restorer Ultimate 3.3 build 123301
Pros
its perfect.

"Worked for me"
Version: Restorer Ultimate 3.3 build 123301
Pros
Recover2000 recovered a corrupted disk for me that Windows refused to read (I tried various command line tools like recover and fdisk and nothing would work).
So, given that I found a lot of similar software (that also looked like they would work) but which were 2 or 3 times the cost, I can only give this full marks to this.
It recovered 100's of Megabtyes of data that Windows (Vista) couldn't.

"Using Restorer2000 *Not the Pro edition*"
Version: Restorer Ultimate 3.3 build 123301
Pros
I like how Restorer 2000 allowed me to see whether it could detect my files or not before I had to buy it. It's done a great job of restoring all my music and games after I stupidly formatted my hard drive.
I don't have room on my main drive to fully restore everything all at once fromt the corrupt one, and R2k lets me pick and choose the folders I want to restore. This is a lot better than a certain DOS file extracter. Plus, R2k doesn't rename my files.
I like how this works on Vista and XP. I plan on keeping this program for a long time, just in case I or someone I know messes up again.
Cons
The version I'm using probably has a lot more features than I need, and I bet you don't need the pro or whatever else.
R2k only accepts Canadian dollars, so this would have been a steal in years past. (now the US dollar is down, though)

"Does Not Work!"
Version: Restorer Ultimate 3.3 build 123301
Pros
Nothing! It didn't work.
Cons
While it may be OK to recover some corrupted files, or files which have been accidently deleted, it does not work to recover anything from a disk which has been damaged, or which has had its FAT corrupted.

"Succeeded where others failed."
Version: Restorer Ultimate 3 build 123007
Pros
After trying several shareware versions of other file recovery programs with varying degrees of (nowhere near 100%) success, I gave Restorer2000 a try. The trial was perfect for me, as I had 200+ files that were under 128K on the wasted drive I was trying to recover from. Restorer2000 had 100% success with those, so it was a no-brainer to give the full version a shot. I'm happy to say the pay version was also 100% with my bigger files--over 3GB of raw digital camera pics of our family that my wife never backed up. Two happy endings--the files were saved and my wife burns a disk every time now.
Simple interface for an intermediate computer user, but my main reason for the highest rating was its success rate and its price for comparable products whose demos did not do anywhere near as well.

"Waste of money for video file recovery, average success with other file types"
Version: Restorer Ultimate 3 build 123007
Pros
Average success.
Cons
I needed to recover several lost avi and mpg movies. These weren't just deleted, the partition and other things really got messed up during an automated windows update. I spent days with over a dozen demos of recovery tools. I pretty much knew what I had lost so as I ran the tools I could recognize which tool could uncover the missing files. Most demo products didn't turn up anything that appeared recognizable based on file size and quantity to what I knew I had lost. Based solely on what the demos could uncover, I settled on Restorer2000 pro and Handy Recovery 3.0. I purchased Restorer2000 Pro first and found out that it couldn't recover a single playable video file. However, Handy Recovery did. Don't waste your time with Restorer2000 pro when it comes to recovering lost video files. Considering their ability to recover other file types, Handy Recovery hands-down beat out Restorer2000 pro when it came to volume and accuracy of recovered files. The other products I reviewed were: FinalData Premium 2.0, Virtual Lab 5.5.12, Advanced Recovery, File Scavenger 3.0, Recover My Files, File Recover 6.1, Easy Undelete 3.0, R-undelete 2.1, Active@ File Recovery 7.1, R-studio 3.5, Undelete Professional Edition, EAZ-Fix, Directory Snoop, Active@ Undelete, Getdataback, iRecover 2.1, Recover Lost Data 3.0, and Quick Recovery.

"Don't waste your money on this crap: The demo does the same as the full version"
Version: Restorer Ultimate 2.0
Pros
I downloaded the demo version of this program because I was attempting to recover some files off of a formatted drive. The program actually found the files and I was able to recover files less than 64KB. So, I decided to purchase the full version. In fact, the claim on their website specifically states:
"The Restorer2000 Standard NTFS 2.0 recovers deleted files from valid NTFS logical disk / partitions and doesn't give you ability to restore data from FAT partitions or any formatted HD, damaged and corrupted partitions."
NOTE: the words "formatted HD"
Cons
Guess what. The full version did the same as the demo. So, I wrote the company and informed them that I could not restore files that were greater than 64KB. And, here was their response:
"It depends what kind of operation are you trying to perform. With Standard versions you can recover files from existing file
structure only. If you need to scan the drive and recover files from recognized partitions you need Professional version. You can upgrade on "Insert where-where-to-buy URL here"
With Standard version you can recover any file which does not require scanning of the drive to be found. Recovering from existing file structure does not require scanning, just use 'Open Drive Files'
command in 'Drive' menu. If you need to scan the drive and recover files from recognized partitions you need Professional version (which also provides support for both file system types).
This is clearly false advertising. Don't waste your money on the full version when you get the same benefits from the demo.
