"Quickly get rid of annoying emails from "known" sender."

    March 31, 2012  |   By bndekker

Version: Restore Bounce Mail Button To Lions Mail.app 1.0

    Pros

Easy and fast way of getting rid of stupid emails from stupid people.

    Cons

None, if you use it the right way. NOT FOR SPAM!

    Summary

Apple should have given people the option of using this. For all those that say it does"t work: it does if you want to "bounce" someone with a valid email address. For all other (frequent) unwanted emails use "rules" in Mail preferences.

    "Worthless. No, worse than that."

    March 1, 2012  |   By bjlevine

Version: Restore Bounce Mail Button To Lions Mail.app 1.0

    Pros

    Nothing. Didn't work.

    Cons

Modified the app with no apparent way of uninstalling the changes. Left "backup" files with no instructions of how to restore things back to the way they were. Had to grab another clean copy of the app from another Mac. I should have made a copy before doing the mod but all's well now.

    Summary

Run away from this piece of turd as fast as you can.

    "Restores Useless Feature"

    December 31, 2011  |   By jimcarr2

Version: Restore Bounce Mail Button To Lions Mail.app 1.0

    Pros

There are no pros to this software.

    Cons

Totally useless. Most spam is from botnets and the spammer will never get any bounces and really doesn't care.

If this feature actually worked, Apple wouldn't have removed it.

    Summary

Mail gateways can reject a message (bounce). Once mail has been accepted by a server, a user can NOT send a bounce to the real sending server. In the case of spam, a user client can only "bounce" a message to an address in message header which is usually invalid or forged.

There is a near zero chance of a user bounce going to actual spammer and a pretty good chance of this attempted bounce landing in mailbox of an innocent bystander. At worst, using this software forwards the spam to an innocent bystander.
