Remote Utilities is remote desktop software for network administration in a Windows domain network. It is closely integrated with Active Directory and provides remote installation across multiple PCs as well as AD authentication support. Remote Utilities can run as a service and grant full control over the remote PC to the administrator in 15 different connection modes. You can connect to remote PCs directly using an IP address or DNS name, or indirectly, either using a global mediation server from the company or a free self-hosted server available for you together with Remote Utilities. The program can be deployed across an entire Windows domain network using the built-in installation tool and MSI Configuration. You can create three different deployment packages with any combination of parameters. Business users can complete a variety of tasks related to maintaining IT infrastructure. Optimize your PC inventory management with Remote Utilities as a center of operations, save time by eliminating the need to physically access remote PCs, work from home or when traveling by securely connecting to your office computer and get instant access to your files, databases, and software. Helpdesk providers benefit from the firewall bypass feature that allows firewalls and NAT services to be bypassed when connecting to a remote PC. The Agent module of the program runs without installation and administrative privileges. You can customize the Agent file with your logo and welcome text before sending it out to your customers. With Remote Utilities your technical support specialists will be able to provide remote technical assistance to all their clients no matter what their level of computer literacy or how their network is configured.
What's new in this version: Version 5.4.0.2 added the ability to disable remote printer driver installation when configuring an .msi file using MSI Configurator and Warning if the IP/ID/DNS name field is left blank when adding a new connection.

Pros
The software is very easy to deploy and use. The connections are very reliable and fast. Connecting is a breeze with the internet ID feature.
Cons
I would like to see remote printing support added.
Summary
I was looking for a remote desktop solution to use for my clients. I needed a solution that would be easy to install and configure remotely. I came across remote utilities 5.0 and decided to give it a try. I have to say RUT exceeded my expectations. I was able to configure an install file for my clients, that contained all the parameters to login to my clients computers , all my client needed to do was generate and supply the internet ID, which we achieved over the phone. I created a profile for that particular machine on the viewer and was ready to connect. To date I use RUT 5.0 to assist end users with minor issues and complete complex tasks taking several hours. I am very pleased with the programs performance and stability. One feature I would like to see is the ability to print to my printer from the remote machine. I have been told that this feature will eventually be added in future updates. At present I own one helpdesk channel and plan to add a second. RUT 5.0 is definitely worth a look if you provide remote computer support services.
