A clean, tabbed layout makes Registry Booster easy to use, and its Registry-centric features keep it focused and in fighting trim. The trial version comes burdened by some tight restrictions that will make it hard for average users to evaluate, but the program does a surprisingly good job of showing you precisely what would be fixed.

Annoyingly, after the program installs, if you choose to launch it immediately it will go directly into a scan without asking for user approval. Depending on your system resources and what other programs you have open, this could lead to a temporary but dramatic system slowdown. Once that first scan is complete, Registry Booster will take you directly to the Registry Scan tab and the scan results suboption. From there, click the small View Results link at the bottom of the pane to see a log of which Registry keys were flagged as problematic. The log will show you the key locations, too. Other left-nav tabs allow you to set an Ignore list, view saved cleaning logs, and defrag your Registry. You can also toggle Minimize and Close button behavior, as well as setting the program to run at Windows start-up or run a scan when it launches.

The trialware allows for only 15 sections of the Registry to be repaired, and the Registry defragger is similarly truncated. Running the program did clear up 15 problems in the Registry, although it would be better if users could determine which 15 problems get fixed so that we could better gauge Registry Booster's efficacy. A less noticeable problem was that the program incorrectly showed the amount of physical memory on the test computer under the System Information tab, calculating 2GB of RAM when there was actually 3GB. Registry Booster is a decent and focused Registry tool, but a more open trial might convince more people that the program is worth buying.

"Poor support for this one."

January 26, 2010  |  By CoolPaw

 |  Version: RegistryBooster 4.5.0.17

Pros

Not much to like when the program keeps freezing up and you have to restart your computer everytime it shows up.

Cons

I hate the fact that the program freezes, now that is a no brainer. And the support sucks.

Summary

I Ipurchased and installed this program. The program froze. Nothing would work. I had to restart my computer. Opened it again, same thing happened. Got in touch with support. Well, that is very poorly named. After several attempts to get an answer, I tried to find a phone umber. None there. I emailed the order office, thinking I could get help there. An auntomated reply. Stay away from this one.

"ITs a scam"

January 01, 2011  |  By scamkillers

 |  Version: RegistryBooster 4.5.0.17

Pros

Its a good scam

Cons

But still a scam

Summary

I have had an error when that i was missing a dll file and i googled the file.
The 1st search result was the site of this horrible company that tries to sell you security, but all it does is scare you into buying their product.
I have my rig for about 3 days now and they said i have 213! errors in my registry, come on! 213 in 2 days? with like 5 installments that work fine only one game that doesnt start? Do you really expect people to belief this nonsence? I hope that someone puts a stop to these shiesty individuals. I would if i had the authority.

March 10, 2010  |  By sbagg

 |  Version: RegistryBooster 4.5.0.17

Pros

none at all

Cons

froze computer - not a positive thing to happen to a novice user.

Summary

I am an extremely unskilled user but try very hard to keep my computers trouble free. I installed this program (on another computer) then supposedly fixed the 15 errors allowed then uninstalled it. When the uninstall was complete my computer froze and remains frozen despite many restarts. Now I don't know what to do.

"MORE PROBLEMS AFTER THAN BEFORE"

March 05, 2010  |  By DamnedYankee

 |  Version: RegistryBooster 4.5.0.17

Pros

Looks impressive and the Microsoft Gold Certified Partner logo inspires confidence. The download and registry scan purportedly identified 516 errors in my system supposedly caused by "registry errors"

Cons

It would only fix 15 errors. I had to buy the full program If I wanted to clean up the rest,. After declining I have had one problem after another with apps that were fine before.

Summary

Don't do the scan if you don't plan to buy the full featured version immediately afterward. In my case, after declining to upgrade to and buy the full-featured version, I began to have major problems with apps that had worked fine before, including Linksys Wireless Manager, which occupied several hours of my time and tht of a Cisco tech support specialist without being able to resolve. In the end, I had to uninstall the Linksys Wireless Manager and it's function was immediately taken over by Microsoft. Might be just a coincidence, but I imagine Microsoft views Linksys Wireless Manager as a competitor and I wonder if this isn't a factor -- or else the scan itself kicks up more problems in its wake.

Updated on Mar 5, 2010

Having now downloaded another program which found I had over 800 registry errors tends to support the theory that the scan performed by Registry Booster created almost 300 additional errors in addition to the 516 it originally reported.

"Does what it advertises"

February 23, 2010  |  By madmex35

 |  Version: RegistryBooster 4.5.0.17

Pros

Cleans up the registry and improves performance for my laptop w/Vista & desktop w/XP Pro.

Cons

Annoying to have it start up as your computer boots up...that is until you click on "Settings" and change the options.

Summary

First time I ran this on desktop it found 420 errors...3 adults use that pc and they do heavy surfing, college work, and gaming. Ran program 7 days in a row and now it's down to less than 10 errors. PC seems to boot up quicker and runs programs faster. Laptop had 23 errors first time and now less than 5 after running program 5 days in a row. If it continues to run like this, I'll be very satisfied.

"why have it, if only 15 are fixable"

February 18, 2010  |  By robinohio

 |  Version: RegistryBooster 4.5.0.17

Pros

absolutely none, piece of garbage

Cons

if only 15, why add to all the others that are limited and most of those dont really clean the registry, since you see the same problems over and over again

Summary

waste of time to download

"Kills PCs with the greatest of ease"

February 02, 2010  |  By DrKLB

 |  Version: RegistryBooster 4.5.0.17

Pros

May clean up registry errors (or may make up registry errors so that you think its doing a great job).

Cons

The registry defrag killed my laptop. I restarted it after running the defrag and everyone program failed due to missing files (usually dll files). I could not even fire up Task Manager.

Summary

AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. My laptop is currently unusable and I will probably have to reformat my hard drive to get it working again.

January 28, 2010  |  By JaysoMayso

 |  Version: RegistryBooster 4.5.0.17

Pros

Cool interface, scanning speed is decent, so is the correcting and the fixing.

Cons

Too long to load up, can get annoying when it sometimes pops up on StartUp.

Summary

UniBlue's softwares are alright, and it works okay(-ish), but I don't beleive it's comparitive reviews against all the other products.
