It does find invalid entries, but not all, that I can say..

After I used Registry Mechanic, I also downloaded other FREE cleaners, and scanned them all one after another. It seems that one picks up what others miss. I wasn't impressed with Registry Mechanic.

After I used it before, I also downloaded other FREE cleaners, and scanned them all one after another. It seems that one picks up what others miss. It's ok for a NEWBIE on the computer, but those who are advanced in the computer field may not find this product worthing the time downloading.You should check out Advanced System Care, Or Last freeware version of JV16 Power tools, both offer more than registry. My advise is to try at least 5 registry cleaners before making your choice of which one you like best. I am always trying out different Software. I find using more than one seems to work better, anyway. And yes, Deep cleaning may screw up things with any reg cleaner. Other useful Programs and system savers are ERUNT and Sandboxie, both allow you to prevent problems when installing and unstalling software, especially when you are just trying new software out and don't want to leave left over clutter in your registry..

The great and user-friendly interface and/or options made this program my choice first of all. There is also a fast scan with good results. In my opinion it finds almost every windows registry error and it can fix almost a 100%.
Cons
I think you should try TuneUp Utilities 2007 to see what it is all about. Anyway the second one found more registry errors than Registry Mechanic and never failed to identify a valid registry item as an error like the first one. I think, as an average computer user, there are still false positives in Registry Mechanic scans and using TuneUp Utilities at least this mistake is avoided!

this registry tool has got a good detection rate and does speed up my comp.
Cons
the software sometimes seems like it hasent done nothing when i fix some problems for example and i quit the software and then go back on it it finds the same problems,its probs nothing to worry about tho.

Well I got mine for for free for Fry's, I gotta tell ya mine was the old version but AI registered it and o lost my code when I had to reinstall it so I went to the website and they will give you a new code and a download of the latest version that cool. All-In-all its fast, work great and good.
Cons
Should have more options and features, if you want to buy it CCleaner is just as great but leaves out about 3 things but has lofts of features!!!

I have been using Registry Mechanic for over two years, paid version. In the past month, whenever I would try to scan, it was trying to re-load Microsoft Office. I have two pc's and it was doing it on both. Not sure if it became unstable or what. I'm trying TuneUp Utilities (free version) and found over 200 problems with my registry and over 100 application problems that Registry Mechanic missed.

And I'm not talking about "PC Tools Desktop Mechanic". Here is what their website says about this application. "Designed for Windows 98, Me, 2000 and XP, with basic support for Windows Vista". I own this application. I bought it before I bought my new computer but I'll be darned if I'm going to trust a registry cleaner with limited support for Vista". Instead of updating this software, they gave us a new, more expensive one with added features that are terrible. I am so disappointed in "PC Tools", I will never use any of their software again, at least until they get things straightened out.
