"Stuck unable to remove this program"

April 20, 2014  |  By Regardless

 |  Version: RegClean Pro 6.1

Pros

Supposedly can find plenty of things wrong with registry.

Cons

Will only fix registry problems if you purchase the license and most likely was downloaded by mistake as part of a download bundle when trying to download a different software as I never actually searched for or manually downlaoded this program. It also became very difficult to remove due to errors in the registry for the uninstall file for the software... go figure. I am re-installing it from here to get the uninstall registry file placed back into the file so I can then uninstall the program.

"Fake Program."

April 07, 2013  |  By Zouiezack

 |  Version: RegClean Pro 6.1

Pros

Nothing. No pros at all.

Cons

This is a scam. Systweak (Makers of RegClean Pro) claims to be a "Microsoft Gold Certified Partner". They're just trying to take your money.

Summary

Systweak (Makers of RegClean Pro) claims to be a "Microsoft Gold Certified Partner", but this is a scam using scare-tactics by saying you have multiple registry errors to scare you into buying their program.

"a scam and takes over your browser"

November 23, 2012  |  By freedda

 |  Version: RegClean Pro 6.1

Pros

Can't really say.

Cons

I downloaded this program and ran it. It said it found hundreds of problems on my computer but could only fix a dozen or so, otherwise I'd have to pay.

I stopped the program, and later deleted it from my system. However, the next time I started Firefox, it made the Incredibar / Mystart web page my home page, and also brought these pages up when I tried to open a new blank page as a tab.

I had to go into the advanced settings of Firefox to remove this from my browser.

A total scam and sham as far as I'm concerned. Stay away!

Summary

Bad, really bad. Takes over your browers.

"@#$%^&* RegClean Pro"

June 01, 2012  |  By Edward_Bahr

 |  Version: RegClean Pro 6.1

Pros

Could not find ***anything*** positive to say about RegClean Pro. CNET Surprises me that they continue to praise it. Maybe CNET does not check the products B4 advising them.

Cons

Everything about RegClean Pro is a con ! ! !

Summary

AVOID OR BE CAUGHT
Looking for a program that would help clean up my computer, I chose RegClean Pro upon CNET's recommendation. It is free for the first 100 issues, yet it *supposedly* found over 500!!! After the first 100 are cleared (???) it continues its merry way without cleaning any more problems. So much for being free. The only thing to do was to uninstal it. ***Oh, yeah???*** After uninstalling it, I did a Search and found there were three items still installed (spying?). Every time I booted up RegCleanPro runs a scan.
What to do? I contacted their Company and was told to simply accept "Yes" from a clean problems list. Ha, ha, ha. "Caught another idiot," they thought. What happened was it removed the name RegClean Pro from my list of programs yet the program continues to run at each boot up. Appeals to my anti spy program replied with a try Revo Uninstaller Pro (honestly free), but seeing I had followed the RegClean Pro's advice and click "Yes" it had *only* removed the *name* from the programs list. So I am stuck with the more than useless program RegClean Pro. Its producers suggested ***buying*** the program. NO WAY!

"It's all a gimmick!"

December 26, 2011  |  By gabirella

 |  Version: RegClean Pro 6.1

Pros

I found the reg-clean portion worked in some cases

Cons

the support personnel are trained in selling you additional support you do not need.

Summary

These guys have a shameless gimmick, and they should be exposed for it. The application itself, RegClean Pro is a decent app, and it did restore the speed of one of my home computers as expected.

The gimmick comes in when you call the 24/7 helpline advertised on the top right corner of the application window. NEVER CALL THIS NUBER! An unsuspecting buyer may think s/he is getting help with the registry cleaner itself, but that is NOT the case. Once they had me on the phone, they kindly explained to me that my computer had issues RegClean Pro could not fix, so for a small fee of $100, they offered to restore my computer. Here is their trick: they will log into your PC remotely, (if you are naive enough to let them - like I was), and they will show you all sorts of error messages saying that these are at the root-cause of your problem. They said I had a malicious worm that will infect all my other PCs on the home network. Since they are certified Microsoft partners (which they tell you at least a dozen times), you may tend to trust them, but do not! Here is why. I forked over $100 to have this PC fixed, only to find out that the next time I ran RegClean Pro, that the software still reported 30+ major problems. So, I went ahead and "fixed" them, and the program happily reported that they have been taken care of. I may be trusting, but I am not stupid, so I re-ran the scan just as soon as the program finished, and guess what? The same 30+ error the program claimed to have fixed popped up again.

Now, it was time to call support again and then the real bomb was dropped. The tech logged into my computer again, and totally ignoring my complaint about the registry cleaner, he flat out told me that my PC will always be slow because it is low on RAM. So, why in the world did they tell me the day before that for $100, they can fix it? Because they are scam artists; every single one of them. But wait, the story is not yet over...

I told the tech that I no longer want to deal with this PC (which was a hand me down), but now I am worried about my other networked PCs (see note about the worm in previous paragraph). So the tech graciously offered to give me "credit" for the $100 I previously wasted, and for ANOTHER $150, he'll fix this second computer and throw in some Microsoft security software and one year of support for one computer. Even though I had already purchased security software, I was ready to fork over another $150. (OK, so I AM stupid).

What pissed me off like nothing before, is that this tech dude while still logged into my PC told me to enter all my info, including my Credit Card number and the security code on the back of it. I found this absolutely outrageous and hung up on the guys telling him this was the most unsafe, improper use of "remote" support I ever heard of. He called me back saying we were disconnected, and he didn't know why. I said, we were not disconnected "I hung up you!" -

Long story short, too late I know, I am disputing the charges with my CC company, and I am doing everything I can to discredit these clowns, MS certified or not!
