We were rooting for this simple 3D shooter, but we can award it only three stars on account of its lack of features, low-budget graphics, and repetitive music. Recon: Crypt is an enhanced version of the game SR3/2838. You move through corridors and halls, all alike, and shoot at ghosts, which look exactly alike. At the end of the level, you face a boss monster (a large, red head), who has more lives than a ghost but isn't much of a problem to beat. You have a single weapon--a rifle with unlimited ammo--which reminds us of the Pulse Rifle in Unreal Tournament. Because of its lack of content, Recon: Crypt weighs only 12MB, but for the same reason, it quickly becomes boring. For undemanding gamers with a slow connection, this game may serve to pass a short lunch break, but don't expect it to entertain you much longer than that.
