"Froze my PC, had to remove it"

by InsertCleverUserNameHere on June 8, 2008

Pros: Well, it installed without a hitch, but...

Cons: ...it froze the PC up solid, after a few minutes in use. Rebooted, same problem. Rebooted twice more, then I rolled back the driver, and the problem was gone. I have no idea why, but this particular driver doesn't like my particular PC.

    "Works ok, BUT"

by Suekie on December 31, 2007

Pros: Nice little sound manager, plays well, fine for the basic system I have.

Cons: Driver refuses to load on start-up. It's there, but I have to install it manually more often than not. System sounds are unaffected. Lost a star for that reason only.

Was fine until latest update. Wait for the next one if you want it, maybe the bug will be found by then.

"Newer Version A3.90 is on the Realtek website"

by QuestZone on July 11, 2006

Pros: Nice upgrade for my Averatec 6130HS-20 Laptop.

I had a much older version that seemed to slow my computer down. Since I installed the A3.90 version, the slowness has stopped.

Don't upgrade for the sake of it. Know first what issues the upgrades fix, and if they apply to your system. Then, and only then should you upgrade, otherwise leave well enough alone.

Also, make sure when you upgrade, you're using the correct software for your system and read the install instructions. I know people applying this upgrade to their system and they do not even have the Realtek ALC65x chip.

One last point, No software is 100% compatible for all systems. So before you install any software, create a restore point or make a back-up. No one is to blame but yourself, if you don't!

    Cons: None at this time.
