"Bogus CNET"
Version: Realtek AC'97 Driver (Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/2003) A4.06 (10/01/2008)
Pros
NONE NONE NONE
Cons
your not giving me the driver your try'n to get me to download programs I do not want cause they (by Experiance) only cause more problems to deal with even if they are a "30 day free trial"
Summary
they don't fix the problem until you Pay for the Full Package - then you gotta remove them IF you even know how (CMOS) editing - you even make me give a star wher no star is desered and I doubt this will be in the reviews or post for very long before you remove it
why do I waste my time with you - CNET - or rather why did you just waste over 1/2 hour or more of my time. NO Thanks giving to you -
"#1 choice in audio drivers"
Version: Realtek AC'97 Driver (Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/2003) A4.06 (10/01/2008)
Pros
this driver worked for me on my hp laptop, which had SoundMAX as the default driver. I found problems with SoundMAX and I switched to Realtek, and it was a wise choice.
Cons
-none.....
Summary
If you are looking for an audio driver for your pc, try this one first. Should it not work (for some bizzarre reason) try something else, maybe C-media

Pros
None. This thing is dangerous.
Cons
This thing forced a reboot of my system since XP considered it dangerous saying it could cause substantial harm. Microsoft displayed a warning that it did not pass its logo test for use with XP. This is yet another sign this thing is dangerous

Totally bad experience. Makes me question CNET as a download provider.

"Blah blah blah."
Version: Realtek AC'97 Driver (Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/2003) A4.06 (10/01/2008)
Pros
..............
Cons
While trying to install this, my computer restart itself and the problem was not solved.
Summary
Don't download it.
I believe most of the comments on here are fake and are posted in favor of the download to fool people into downloading software that has viruses on it and will crash their computer.

"Didn't work for me."
Version: Realtek AC'97 Driver (Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/2003) A4.06 (10/01/2008)
Pros
No Pros from me -
Cons
Installation would be 99% complete and my system would shutdown.
Summary
I was directed to this download for my specific Dell Dimension, after I had to reinstall XP due to a bad hard drive. There definitely was some incompatibility with my PC.
