It either works or it doesn't. In this case it didn't, so no Pros.
Cons
The driver was needed for on-board sound on a Asus K8V-MX motherboard running windows '98 SE (as an experiment) This driver, like several others, includng the Soundmax would not work. However the Via Vinyl AC'97 Codec Combo driver did work.

Did not work from CNET
Summary
I downloaded from CNET, tried to run it and nothing would work. I tried several times (with fresh downloads), then determined that what I had downloaded here was a special installer which was supposed to get a guaranteed malware-free download and install--if your server was not too loaded. If it did not function, the recommendation was to go to the original manufacturer's site (link given) and download from there. I did so and installed OK.
