"Real player Plus is a scam"
Version: RealPlayer 15.0.4.53
Pros
Paid $39.99 plus tax in July. Now there is a new version of real player I lost the $43 that I paid in July 2011 and now I need to pay another $43 to get the new real player plus.
Cons
This company is a scam artist.
Summary
This company is a scam artist. Do not purchase this software unless you want to continue to send them more money.

Cons

Summary
My choice of media player.

"Frequent major updates that you have to pay extra for"
Version: RealPlayer 15.0.4.53
Pros
Plays a lot of formats
Cons
Every major upgrade they expect you to pay again or an upgrade fee for. Its a money pit, when there's just as good software out there for free. When I originally bought the licence I expected it to last for a few years, not months and then be expected to pay for it again. Its getting like Antivirus software, where they expect you to buy a new version each year. Just not worth the money in my view
Summary
Used to be useful, played a lot of formats in one player, but Real have got greedy and want to charge a lot for their product when there's (in my opinion) far better FREE products out there

"Extra money and it shuts itself down worse than ever."
Version: RealPlayer 15.0.4.53
Pros
About the only aspect that works with Realplayer 15 is downloading (albeit without the rather pointless accelerator showing active), but even that gets the usual Windows error when you try and exit the programs.
Cons
I pay 25 bucks more for Realplayer 15 and now can no longer burn dvds. It immediately shuts down when the burn button is clicked.
It never exited cleanly before Realplayer 15, but now I get a Windows DEP error constantly. This was never a problem with the former premium edition.Summary
I've spent 65 bucks on premium software that is worse than ever. I'm going to work on getting it to work for another week before asking for my money to be returned by the new year. I am so sick of reloading Realplayer software just to get half-decent performance.
