One of the dinosaurs of media playback, RealPlayer has been on the scene since 1995. Sometimes it feels like it hasn't been updated since then, no matter what the version number says. Still, RealPlayer 11 beta introduces a major new function and takes care of some frustrating bugs, making it respectable once again.
The player runs smoother than ever, which to some might not be saying much, but if you haven't used it in years, the differences are dramatic. Now the free version of the player has the ability to download videos from the Internet, including Flash-based videos like those on YouTube. Once installed, mousing over an embedded video will provide a pop-up that not only lets you download the vid, but also change its name, the save-to directory, and other options.
The update sees a major face-lift, as well, removing much of the clutter from the downloadable music store. Though not groundbreaking, the RealPlayer music store gets a thumbs up for being easy to use and offering a flexible DRM policy. The new jukebox features let you make playlists, rip CDs, burn custom mixes, and listen to hundreds of online radio stations. The program still suffers from an intrusive installation, but file-type hijacking and upgrade harassment are mostly gone.
The positive steps begun with Version 10 continue in this beta release. Users of earlier versions certainly should upgrade.

"problems on xp good on vista"
Pros: free can record flv files eg youtube vids to keep great
Cons: on xp its not playing flv files i downloaded..i got the exact same files to play on a vista pc so realplayer not ok on xp as download says..any answers comment here by reviewing realplayer11 so i can fix it

Pros: The new real Player can play all the other players within it and down load videos from the net too. (How long will this last?) Geez, what more could you ask for.
Cons: Quality could still improve..........and no, I still don't want your music or games.

"my favorite player , give me headache"
Pros: i use Real player , many years , and always the plus model ....now i paid for the
beta 11 , plus ...it was my favorite player
Cons: now , its crazy ...im signed in , in my acount there is the payment for the 11 ....
but
1. when i press for updates , tells me to download the software i have ...
2 . no support for cd burning or dvd burning ...shows that works , but you get a blanc cd or dvd ...i have two more burning software that work properly ...

"The great media player software ah!"
Pros: I recently discovered through Winmpg after converting video files to the excellent support RealPlayer video decoder. We recommend the use of Winmpg video convert to a video editing and conversion, using RealPlayer to play and display your video and film documents. I feel this is the perfect combination. Both the video, film or the effect of converting the player screen effects are very perfect. Clear picture, sound animated full.
Cons: Perfect.

Pros: Much better than the annoying itunes! Easy to use... does what it has to do... I absolutely don't understand the low reviews. I'm running on XP.
