Real Player sucks. It really does. It has lousy support for anything other than it's own proprietary file format, it insists on calling home (check your firewall for outgoing connections), and in general I hate it. If someone sends me an .RM file now I just delete it.
If you want a good Video/Audio application there are two that are really good, and they are Videolan and Democracy Player. Grab one of them instead.
As to the CNET rating of 4 - I suspect that someone was asleep at the switch when they reviewed it.

first off i got this **** preinstalled on my new vista computer...seconded it says error can't register with my computer name what the hell..last thing...everytime u click the icon it says theres a update but wont install...

I downloaded this program only because like everone else, I want to be able to view real video. Also the quality of music is better than Windows media player and quality of video as well.

Like averyone else I find this program a pain! Too many distracting and annoying interuptions that there is no need for. I just load it to my slave drive and ignore it until I need it to (groan) view or hear "real" stuff. ps: I feel the users are rating it too high, it's misleading, sorry guys;)

Probably the most annoying software ever created. Everything about this program is a con, from the insanely slow load up time, the constant advertisements, and so on.
