    "Farewell to RealPlayer"

    September 7, 2014  |   By FullyRetired

    Version: RealPlayer Cloud 17.0.6.13

    Pros

That there are CNET like this to warn potential users of poor updates. Too bad I based my expectations on years of previous good experience with RealPlayer instead of checking it out on CNET first.

    Cons

I want to vote with the others who decry the failure of the RealPlayer folks to give a clean uninstall of RealPlayer Cloud. I quickly determined it wasn't for me, and after hours of work I still can't get rid of the digital garbage they have left on my computer.

    Summary

No reputable company should put such NOT-ready-for-prime-time software out without a warning that it's a beta or below quality release. Totally unsatisfactory for a company that has served well for a long time.

"Sadly must agree with others' negative remarks"

    August 7, 2014  |   By ttstoo

    Version: RealPlayer Cloud 17.0.6.13

    Pros

It USED TO be good, before the "cloud" version!

    Cons

From my p.o.v., it simply doesn't do what it used to simply do. Consequently I've stopped using it, and instead use VLC.

    Summary

I've used Real Player Plus for many years, and considered myself pretty much "bolted-on". But despite this, RP seem to have successfully unbolted me with the new "cloud" version, which I didn't want and resent having foisted on me without being offered any choice. Bye bye RealPlayer.

"Has lots of advantages but doesn't quite compare to VLC"

    July 6, 2014  |   By tomysshadow

    Version: RealPlayer Cloud 17.0.6.13

    Pros

Good music player, good visualizations, Cloud option is handy and if you don't want it then, well, don't use it for gosh sakes! You aren't requires to put files into it. Aside from that it is good for playing AVI files and its own proprietary format. It has a music library which I'm not a big fan of but once again, if you don't like it don't bother to use it. It also looks really nice, better than the awesome but admittedly outdated looking green and white colour scheme. It is also easy to set up and sign up, and no junk mail.

    Cons

It does play a lot of formats, but still not as many as VLC.

    Summary

Looks nice and plays many formats. A little bit on the slow side though.

    Updated on Jul 6, 2014

Looks nice and plays many formats. A little bit on the slow side though. Also the downloader, converter and trimmer are a nice touch and an improvement over previous versions.

"Do NOT Upgrade to RealPlayer Cloud"

    June 29, 2014  |   By SamSym

    Version: RealPlayer Cloud 17.0.6.13

    Pros

It is easy to download video from most places from within the web browser. The viewer can play many different types of video files.

    Cons

The RealPlayer Cloud is buggy and may or may not work. It wants to take over everything and send it who knows where. It is fine sitting on my hard drive or my personal NAS. I don't want the RealPlayer Cloud, but there doesn't seem to be any way to turn it off.

    Summary

If you have the old Realplayer and enjoy using it, keep doing so. Upgrading it is a nightmare and it leaves so much garbage in your registry and on your hard drive. Most other reviews echo my comments, and I do wish that an offline uninstaller was available. Uninstalling it did make it necessary to reinstall 2 other programs.

    "Awful. Just awful."

    May 21, 2014  |   By swanjame

    Version: RealPlayer Cloud 17.0.6.13

    Pros

    Absolutely none. Zilch.

    Cons

I have had Real Player for several years and it is a nice tool. I guess I should say was. I updated my Real Player to the new version. I did not want the Cloud feature so I did not sign up/subscribe for it. It bunged up my computers big time after a few days. One of my computers would boot up and then run at 100% CPU ad infinitum.

    Summary

    Awful. Just awful.

    "Flaky Cloud (version 17.09)"

    May 15, 2014  |   By Malcan

    Version: RealPlayer Cloud 17.0.6.13

    Pros

Allows you to share files on cloud (for those who need to do so).

    Cons

RP Cloud has been very unstable for me. I wish I had not upgraded to Cloud from the previous (uncloud) version. Strange things kept happening to the private videos on the pc. One day they are in the pc library, next day they've disappeared. I had to import those files from the appdata/roaming/RPPrivate folder again and again. The private files are supposed to be hidden, however they can all be seen in the RPPrivate folder. All in all, RP Cloud is acting very flaky for me and in hindsight I should not have upgraded.

    "cranky install"

    May 14, 2014  |   By davidfoxitreader

    Version: RealPlayer Cloud 17.0.6.13

    Pros

They promise everything, and much of it works.
    RealPlayer help tries to help.
Its library features have been excellent.

    Cons

In spite of what it says here, there appears to be no Windows 7 or 8 version. The Real.com still says
"RealPlayer Cloud isn't on This Operating System Yet", yet I continue to get annoying notices to upgrade ReelPlayer.

The installation is aggressive. It annoyingly takes over default player. I will start Real when I need its features, mainly its library.
