"May even be better than VLC player for basic needs!"
Version: Real Alternative 1.52
Pros
Ive used VLC player for some time for most of my media, but this one seems to work with most if not all of my media files and it plays in a much better interface. I dont need all of the options with VLC and it seems that Real Alternative Plays much better at default settings than VLC does. VLC probably needs configuration to make it run well, but all I want is something that will run great from the start... this one does the job so far!
Cons
Has a problem playing flash media, but its ok because I use BitComet Flash Player for that. Sometimes it cuts out on the real streams, but that may be an issue with my router, I dunno.

"A Real player without the annoying baggage!"
Version: Real Alternative 1.52
Pros
Nice Little player for real media audio and video without the adware and annoying messages. Works great so far.

"Performs when Windows Media Player 11 stalls; tops for subtitled video"
Version: Real Alternative 1.52
Pros
Performs as described. Downloaded it to play foreign language video files (.rmvb file extension) with subtitles loaded as .srt file. Does this, and more; nicely full-featured for free-ware, with user tweaks for audio & video output, and subtitle displays. Supports numerous video/audio/media formats. No adware! No wrestling with Real Player! Nostalgic, clear interface (no menu links to online pay or subscription services).
Cons
Shareware: main menu's Help/donate link leads to 404 error.
For subtitles: main menu's view/options/subtitles/database link is broken (minor issue, at least for Asian video--you usually have your subtitle files).
User interface: has a definite "old-fashioned" feel and look--like Windows Media Player for Win98 (but, it doesn't distract or annoy).

"Great player for playing RealMedia content without RealPlayer itself"
Version: Real Alternative 1.52
Pros
Plays all kinds of media files ( mostly RealMedia related, but others as well ).
Nice clean interface.
No RealPlayer needs to be installed to view RealMedia content on the internet.
Cons
Nothing, used this program before, now I re-installed it now.

"Cool..."
Version: Real Alternative 1.52
Pros
A great replacement for Real Media. Yknow, with all the hassle of Real Media, pop up window asking for registration, limitations and all, this piece of software has quickly become my choice. It's small, fast, with lotsa options. And no annoyance whatsoever.
Cons
None that I know of.

"Works, nothing fishy detected"
Version: Real Alternative 1.52
Pros
Works like a charm for playing RM files. Easy install, no alarms sounded from my internet security applications. I know I'm not the only person in the world sick of all the GARBAGE associated with downloading, installing, and operating Real Player. This appears to be a refreshing alternative.
Cons
So far -- no complaints.

"Does Exactly What it Says."
Version: Real Alternative 1.52
Pros
Comes with the needed codecs for realplayer files without the horrible realplayer itself which comes with adware. Codecs can be recognised automatically in your browser or chosen media player. Also comes with a handy version of windows media player classic if you want it. All installation options are custom and the program is spyware and virus free.
