Version: RPG Maker XP
"A great program, a few flaws"
Pros: The program is layed out quite conveniently, with everything easy to access. It is simple to figure out, except for the script system, which was made to give the real programmers control.
Cons: The only minor flaw is in the Actors tab in the database where part of the screen is cut off. This should not cause much of a problem, though, if you create your own battle system rather than use the defauly, because only battle details, such as armor, are inaccessible. Also, it has some minor issues in it's handling of music effects.

To fix the problem you're having with the actors tab, install East Asian language support. This and other small bug fixes and workarounds can be found on the FAQ at the rmxp.net forums.
Not that they shouldn't have spotted that on their own, but at least we can still use the program just fine.
