"Used while removing the fake "File Recovery" virus"
Version: RKill build 4
Pros
I used this as part of the step by step solution offered by http://malwaretips.com/blogs/file-recovery-virus/ for removing the "File Recovery" virus.
Cons
I don't know of any cons. After following the steps recommended by malwaretips.com to remove the "File Recovery" virus (including running RKILL) my PC was back to normal. I ran a quick scan with malwarebytes showing all malware had been sucessfully removed, so I am confident that RKILL is NOT itself a malware program.
Summary
http://malwaretips.com/blogs/file-recovery-virus/ provides a step by step solution for removing the "File Recovery" virus that I found very helpful last week. One of the steps is downloading and running RKILL, which is supposed to re-enable something that the virus disables. After using Malwarebytes to eliminate the virus, itself, UNHIDE is the other utility that is essential for being able to once again see your desktop, documents, music folders and your hard drive and start button contents.

"Trojan here"
Version: RKill build 4
Pros
Who knows? IoBit Malware Fighter flags a trojan and an auto-exec. that are not allowable.
Cons
Who knows? IoBit Malware Fighter flags a trojan and an auto-exec. that are not allowable.
Summary
Download at own risk. I do not know any of the parties fighting over this download or even their technical terms, just what trusted antimalware detection flags with red.

"It is a good program"
Version: RKill build 4
Pros
It does what its supposed to do
Cons
you have to disable your AV but hey most viruses will disable it
Summary
Most of the bad ranking reviews posted this week are posted by sock puppets read more here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic441843.html

"See my screen name?, I ain't joking."
Version: RKill build 4
Pros
Infected by malware?, DO NOT PANIC!!!!
Download RKILL on to your desktop and run from there.
RKILL has been written by an AVP of microsoft which means he is very good at what he does, it also means if he was to release ANY kind of malware and it is attributed to him that is a whole careers worth of respect from his peers out the window.
His name at Bleeping Computer is Grinler, all you TRON afficianados will understand.
GRINLER FIGHTS FOR THE USERS, (me and you).
I for one appreciate his efforts.Cons
It being so good the bad guys making comments that this is malware, you see while their malware is running it can defend itself from all sorts of probes and deletion efforts.
RKILL kills all known Trojans/parasites dead and then erases them.
How could it have any cons?.Summary
In making and releasing this, Laurence abrams has put the user in a position from which they can defend themselves.
This Program is extremely good at what it does and must be making a dent in the number and persistence of infections.
This is no doubt one of the reasons it is being slandered.
Just remember to download it on your desktop and run it from there, it really does make that much of a difference.
Grinler fights for the user. -
"Nectar from the Malware Fighting GODS!!!!!!"
Version: RKill build 4
Pros
Does what it says & NOTHING more--kills known MALWARE processes. Lawrence,Grinler or whatever your name is all I can say is
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Cons
Gave it a 5 star rating because 10 stars is not an available option.
Absolutely NO CONS.Summary
Bleepin' Bee-yoo-tee-full! Thanks BC for being what you are--the BEST online computer community on the PLANET.
Maybe it's time to upgrad from Win98 lol. 2 mouseclicks to dl & save to desktop, dl'd about 2 dozen times, never had a problem, You sure your problem is not with the CNET malware...err wrapper? lmao.

"Stops all malware processes"
Version: RKill build 4
Pros
Using this gives you the time needed to run Malwarebytes or other anti-malware programs without having to resort to safe mode. This program should be on every tech's flash drive.
Cons
None .
Summary
I am a technician and have used this program countless times to get the process started of removing malware. Some malware is good enough to defeat anti-malware programs, but RKILL stops all that from happening. Any 1-star ratings are either from malware writers or people too green in the tech field wanting a quick fix without putting in any effort.

"Outstanding program"
Version: RKill build 4
Pros
Kills rogue processes so other cleaning programs can work
Cons
Not for the average person.
Summary
Valuable piece of software used by many skilled malware removal folks
-
"It's free, and it works, what more could you want?"
Version: RKill build 4
Pros
Kills the processes preventing you from running tools and utilities that remove spyware and other nasties.
Cons
I've never seen any negative effects, and I use it all the time to remove bugs from people's computers.
Summary
rkill is a free utility, available to anyone on a site dedicated to giving free advice and support to people all over the world. There are no "ulterior motives," and you know what? IT WORKS. You know what else? I wouldn't download it from cnet anyway, I'd get it straight from the source. Otherwise, I might accidentally download a snakeoil registry "cleaner" due to a misleading download link. Negative reviewers have either never used it, or have shady motives of their own, I'd say.

"Low reviews are from Malware/Spyware Devs"
Version: RKill build 4
Pros
Regular updates
Kills running malware/spyware to allow for removal
Does what it's supposed toCons
Not a removal tool (not intended to be) would be nice if it deleted the exe's it kills (with confirmation of course)
Summary
I've used RKill on many computers and never had an issue with it doing anything I didn't want it to do.
