"WICKEDLY EFFECTIVE & WLL COME IN HANDY ONE DAY!!!"

    August 12, 2012  |   By sheba94601

    Version: RKill build 4

    Pros

Rkill (Rogue Registry Killer), definitely is a must-have & a keeper in a trove of valuable security & clean up tools! This goes hand-in-hand w/ Malwarebytes! Idk about other suites but I've used it w/o disabling Trend-Micro & Kaspersky. Just before a thorough clean, which I do monthly, I close everything then run RKill "first & foremost" before anything else. Their instructions must be followed to the tee (and w/ care) b/c RKill instantly stops EVERYthing running ..such as "baddies" that have disabled your security, or plans on preventing it from doing its job! When done, RKill kicks out a log informing you of the process that were stopped along w/ possible fixes on corrupt or missing fills, etc.

    Cons

No cons but I feel must say this ..although most techs would scare ppl or cause them to scare others into believing this should be used ONLY by professionals. That is NOT TRUE. If you can tick a button to run your anti-virus & wait until its done ..you dont need a someone to hold your hand to use RKill. Whatever u dont understand or if u need more detailed instructions, GOOGLE IT

    Summary

The first time a tech fixed my pc, few yrs back (he later realized he forgot to remove a few tools then told me to do so ..but I kept RKill heheh). Anyway another yr later my son picked up an infection so bad, it even disabled my ability to do a manual run of my anti-virus suite! To ppl with basic pc skills, this annoyance will make you go to your nearest geek-squad and spend a hefty amount for its removal. Three days of researching & driving myself nuts, I finally remembered the RKill tool tucked away in a folder! No doubt, by now it saved us $$ thousands $$ of dollars ..considering I've learned to be safe & do a thorough clean every month, sometimes weekly!

    Updated on Aug 12, 2012

correction: At the bottom of PROS, I forgot to add that RKill is done running "after" it kicks out the RKill log! Read it thoroughly, save it on your desktop, then run your anti-virus program! If the log states RKill stopped something malicious then you can go back to the log when your av stops, and make sure your av picked it. It it didn't, follow the path provided on the log & either contact your av tech or Google how to clean it, or whether to delete it.

"Used while removing the fake "File Recovery" virus"

    August 7, 2012  |   By trogwolf

    Version: RKill build 4

    Pros

I used this as part of the step by step solution offered by http://malwaretips.com/blogs/file-recovery-virus/ for removing the "File Recovery" virus.

    Cons

I don't know of any cons. After following the steps recommended by malwaretips.com to remove the "File Recovery" virus (including running RKILL) my PC was back to normal. I ran a quick scan with malwarebytes showing all malware had been sucessfully removed, so I am confident that RKILL is NOT itself a malware program.

    Summary

http://malwaretips.com/blogs/file-recovery-virus/ provides a step by step solution for removing the "File Recovery" virus that I found very helpful last week. One of the steps is downloading and running RKILL, which is supposed to re-enable something that the virus disables. After using Malwarebytes to eliminate the virus, itself, UNHIDE is the other utility that is essential for being able to once again see your desktop, documents, music folders and your hard drive and start button contents.

    "Trojan here"

    May 26, 2012  |   By ckcomodo

    Version: RKill build 4

    Pros

Who knows? IoBit Malware Fighter flags a trojan and an auto-exec. that are not allowable.

    Cons

Who knows? IoBit Malware Fighter flags a trojan and an auto-exec. that are not allowable.

    Summary

Download at own risk. I do not know any of the parties fighting over this download or even their technical terms, just what trusted antimalware detection flags with red.

    Updated on Feb 16, 2012

Ok everything is back to normal so RKILL does not erase the malware it just kills it so that you can run a AV such as malware bytes antimalware to remove the malware

    Updated on Feb 16, 2012

David we did this because using sock puppets which are like bots to give a program that kills malware so it can be removed easier a bad ranking over and over is bad and btw the bad reviews were posted by sock puppets hosted by the malware makers themselfs

"See my screen name?, I ain't joking."

    February 15, 2012  |   By totaltechphobia

    Version: RKill build 4

    Pros

Infected by malware?, DO NOT PANIC!!!!
Download RKILL on to your desktop and run from there.
RKILL has been written by an AVP of microsoft which means he is very good at what he does, it also means if he was to release ANY kind of malware and it is attributed to him that is a whole careers worth of respect from his peers out the window.
His name at Bleeping Computer is Grinler, all you TRON afficianados will understand.
GRINLER FIGHTS FOR THE USERS, (me and you).
I for one appreciate his efforts.

    Cons

It being so good the bad guys making comments that this is malware, you see while their malware is running it can defend itself from all sorts of probes and deletion efforts.
RKILL kills all known Trojans/parasites dead and then erases them.
How could it have any cons?.

    Summary

In making and releasing this, Laurence abrams has put the user in a position from which they can defend themselves.
This Program is extremely good at what it does and must be making a dent in the number and persistence of infections.
This is no doubt one of the reasons it is being slandered.
Just remember to download it on your desktop and run it from there, it really does make that much of a difference.
    Grinler fights for the user.

    Absolutely NO CONS.

    "Stops all malware processes"

    February 11, 2012  |   By TenchyMuyo2

    Version: RKill build 4

    Pros

Using this gives you the time needed to run Malwarebytes or other anti-malware programs without having to resort to safe mode. This program should be on every tech's flash drive.

    Cons

    None .

    Summary

I am a technician and have used this program countless times to get the process started of removing malware. Some malware is good enough to defeat anti-malware programs, but RKILL stops all that from happening. Any 1-star ratings are either from malware writers or people too green in the tech field wanting a quick fix without putting in any effort.
