"Found the lost data..."
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 5.1 build 130041
Pros
found lost data where others would not
Cons
interface could be easier/more intuitive
Summary
When I lost my external hard drive, I downloaded quite a few programs in my attempt to recover it. All of the free ones could not find any data on the drive. Some of the pay ones could. I purchased R-Studio because it could recover the data and wasn't that expensive (one product wanted to charge by the MB, which would've cost $150 for only a small amount of data). Like I mentioned, the interface was not all that intuitive, and a little bit confusing, but I found the data I wanted to recover and it recovered about 50GB in a short amount of time. Part of the confusing interface had me recovering (I believe) deleted files, although I'm not sure how a 250GB internal drive and an 80GB external drive could generate 750GB of recovery files? Stopped after it had recovered the data I wanted and am so happy. I definitely recommend this program.

"R-studio is the best of breed"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 5.1 build 130017
Pros
I tried numerous demo-versions of vendors (like D.A.R.T. from "dti-data") but all the recovery tool require knowledge of NTFS.I had no time to learn this, R-studio, is AMAZING, the wealth of information on the raw harddisk data is fantastic!
Cons
absoluutly None whatsoever,
Summary
Forgive typos cause i am not native English speaker i am from BElgium/Brussels.

The wealth of technical information displayed on the harddisk is amazing, most other tools require the harddisk or partition to have a filesystem. So if for some reason you deleted the partition info, these tools will not work, the scan on the raw data is amazingly fast, the only other tool that comes close is D.A.R.T from http://www.dtidata.com , the big drawback that is requires extensive knowledge of the NTFS filesystem to recover your data. I have no time to learn the hex-codes technical details about bootsector and MSB what not, if you dont know what you are doing you will damage your data, so these tools are a danger to use in the hands of a novice.
But R-Studio is amazingly intuitive and goes down to the nitte gritty of the harddisk and sees and recovers everything!! Restoring files is a breeze!! Well worth my money, i would be so dipressed if i had not been able to restory almost 500 gig of information.
You people deserve a prize!!! Thank you fellas

"R-Studio is Excellent Software"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 5.1 build 130017
Pros
R-Studio recovered all my data. Truly amazing software.
Cons
None. The software does an excellent job of data recovery
Summary
R-Studio recovered data on my flash drive that I had accidentally formatted. I had some very important files that I needed to recover. I tried 7 other types of recovery software. Either they didn't work or they only did a small recovery of files. One program I tried showed me stuff I never had. :( Spyware?
Trust R-Studio software it does the job that it claims to do. :) You don't have to go looking anywhere else. :)

"I have Tried the rest and this is the BEST!"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 5.0 build 129009
Pros
Affordable, extremely functional product. I had a server that lost a SAS backplane. I was able to stitch the RAID together with R-Studio and recover my production system in less then a day. would have cost thousands from a lab.
Cons
The interface can become overwhelming but for a tech this should not be a problem for the average user it can be a tad intimidating.
Summary
I have tired a lot of recovery products from the old Norton Disk Dr. in the OLD DOS days to sending drives in to recovery labs. I have found R-Studio to just be the best do it your self product. I have recovered single deleted files, corrupted partitions, Failed raid sets (0,5 and combos(50, 0+1 etc) Stripes from 4k to 1 meg. I have used it on Mac, Linux and Windows drives. Every time R-Studio has had zero impact on the original drive and fully recovered not only my files but also the volume structure saving me and my company thousands of dollars. It's not without its down side, the list view and interface can become muddled with lots of volumes when you do a deep search but when your looking for that one lost file it will usually find it. It will also let you recover files to the original drive but it will give you a warning. If you want to narrow down your search on large drives you can use what is called a Region this lets you search just a subset of the entire drive.
My co-worker manages to leave his backup external HD on computers he is reformatting and during the windows disk partitioning in the installer will frequently delete the partition table from the drive. 30 seconds in R-Studio and he is back and running without loosing the backup. Its just works that easy.
You can even image the content of the volume to a file.
Bottom line, It works fast, it works well. If you can recover in software this will likely work. otherwise your looking at a much more serious problem and much more costly hardware recovery. (platter swap, head swap, firmware corruption, dead spindle motor or other major problem with the drive.)
Best $80 I have spent, literally saved me more then $10,000 at this point and this is in less then one year of use. -
"Excellent Program"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.2
Pros
Best scan engine out of any other windows based recovery software
Inexpensive
Fast
Offers many configuration options guaranteeing the highest rate of recoveryCons
Options can be overwhelming for those who don't know what they are doing
Summary
Here is a nightmare situation for any system admin: a power outage crashes 2 out of 3 drives in a raid 5 configuration. To make matters worst, the raid controller also went bad and there is no backup.
If you know anything about raid arrays, you know that you are pretty much done for. Heck, even if all your drives are working and your controller craps out, your chances of recovery are very slim.
I tried a couple of other recovery programs but none could do an adequate job as I kept getting the BSD at every attempt to scan.
I was contemplating jumping off a bridge but I decided I'd give R-Studio a try. It was a pain in the a** to manually configure the parameters of the array and create a virtual set but once I figured it out, the recovery process went smoothly. I was truly impressed.
No other software is as flexible as R-Studio. Configuration options can be overwhelming even for the seasoned system admin but that is precisely what makes this software so powerful. My recommandation for the makers of this software would be to dumb it down some and offer preconfigured options or create some type of wizard to help users that are not too technical. As it stands now though, this software is definitely a must have in the tool box of any system admin -
"Works as advertised. Well worth the money!"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 5.0 build 129009
Pros
Effective. Ease of use. Good user interface.
Cons
None that I could appreciate.
Summary
I was expecting to spend the best part of a week-end trying to recover my LaCie RAID, dead due to an "industrial accident". Instead, in 15 minutes-time I was looking at the contents of my disks, once again assembled in a RAID. After that the recovery was straight-forward. It saved me days worth of work!

"Best data recovery tool yet!"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 5.0 build 129009
Pros
I love the ease of use and the fact that it recovers the files and keeps them titled the same as they were before they were removed. This program is so fast and simple, and recovered way more than any other program I had used.
Cons
Some files were not able to be recovered, which of course is understandable, but other were recovered but jumbled or empty and there is no way to know this until you try to access them.
Summary
This product was able to recover almost everything I had lost when my computer was accidentally repartitioned and Windows reinstalled over it. I had tried using almost every single data recovery tool I could get my hands on, and also took it in to a specialist, and nothing worked. the few files I did get back were all jumbled up and impossible to see what was what. With R-Studio it was very clear and so easy to use. It recovered my files and they were titled exactly as they were before they were removed, I can't tell you how happy and thankful I am!

"R-STUDIO - WELL WORTH THE MONEY"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.6
Pros
If the drive in question is detected by the system and will mount, this software will find files on it.
Cons
Nothing so far.
Summary
I purchased the standard R-Studio software as a last resort for recovering files from my daughter's failed hard drive. I tested it with a couple of old drives first, to avoid any unpleasant surprises. None noted. The only drive I could not access was one with the "click of death" that could not be mounted. I then ran the software on my daughter's drive. Due to the number of bad sectors on the drive, the scan ran over 16 hours. I was able to recover over 99% of the files, most of which were pictures and videos of our grandchildren, music, and personal files. Since then, I have been able to recover files from bad hard drives for a number of friends. My first experience was with setting up a computer and installing my daughter's drive as a second drive. I have since found that I can connect the defective drive to my system using a USB adapter, and copying recovered files to a second USB drive connected to the system. This is a big bonus for me. As I indicated earlier, this software is well worth the money.

"Great data recovery product at a great price"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.5
Pros
Easy to use, quick to downlaod, smooth purchase process, great price....and just worked!
Cons
I haven't got anything bad to say at all
Summary
This product got me out of a total disaster situation when nothing else seemed to work. I had a disk that Windows woulnt even allocate a drive letter to. JStudio just opened up and all the files were suddenly visible. An hour later my data was 97%
It may not get every dead disk back to life, but it sure worked for me - I was so happy.... When you bought it the code was delivered in an instant, and you could register while the product was running.... My disk was half of a mirror (other disk dead) dynamic dive off a Win2003 server. I attached it to a Vista Ultimate PC and was away. Professional qualiy product with a slick interface. Love it...
