"Nice, but I won't be using it"

    September 5, 2006  |   By

    Version: R-Drive Image 3

    Pros

    Nice interface, easy to use.

    Cons

Cannot verify images when created, and therefore cannot verify each byte that is backed up. You can verify images as an independent operation, but this is obviously no substitute for verifying them as they are created! Trust me, please: It is very possible for tiny bits of corruption to creep into the data stream, even when you are backing up from one hard drive to another. Cables, firmware, BIOS, heat--any of these can and DO cause errors. The only safe way to backup is to verify EVERY byte that gets backed up. R-Drive Image cannot do this.

"They need to clarify "limitations" of trial version"

    May 12, 2006  |   By driverayyz

    Version: R-Drive Image 3

    Pros

backed up fine, easy to use...

    Cons

the trial version says "fully functional", but it's not! it won't let you restore to a new HD. I found that out the hard way. you need to purchase full version if you want to add a new HD and keep your old OS

    system/data.

    "Worked very well for me"

    May 8, 2006  |   By jkgermond

    Version: R-Drive Image 3

    Pros

I have been making backups of my hard drives and this works and is very easy to use. Worth the price. You can mount the backup as a virtual drive and access it and its contents which is so cool. I don't know if this is unique feature or not but I like it.

    Cons

Had about a 10 minute learning curve to figure out what I was doing. Registration a little cumbersome but who cares? No downsides.

"Stop shopping, this is the one to have!"

    April 11, 2006  |   By DTallent

    Version: R-Drive Image 3

    Pros

I've been a professional programmer for 30 years, and I know a good piece of software when I see it. This program is easy to install and use, and has a simple yet comprehensive user interface. I was impressed with the speed of the drive image I made, as well as the surprizingly few disks it took...good compression. I shopped many backup packages before I bought this one, and choose it because it seemed to have it all. It does, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

    Cons

My only suggestion would be to add a progress bar status, such as time or number of disks left until completion.

    "Nice Utility"

    February 13, 2006  |   By UigBrin

    Version: R-Drive Image 3

    Pros

Hey, you have a really nice utility! A virus destroyed my OS, so I could not boot Windows XP. I did not know what to do. Suddenly a thought comes to mind. I said... Oh man... You have a drive image file that you created a few days before by R-Drive Image. Try to use it. It was a good idea. I have used a boot CD that I created by R-Drive Image. After I booted successfully from a CD, I ran R-DriveImage. I selected a hard drive image file from a list and successfully restored my OS without any problem. It comes back. I am very glad that it did not take long time to rebuild my system. Wonderfull! This nice utility works very well. Thanks!

"it is a good software package"

    January 12, 2006  |   By Rhgbwein

    Version: R-Drive Image 3

    Pros

I must say that as an experienced user. R-DriveImage is a good software package for creating "complete" backup images of HDD's, I prefer to use it. It will copy any entire partition from one drive to another. It is much easier to use than others. I've done an entire backup of my harddrive using this program. It works well.

"Buggy program with no technical support"

    January 5, 2006  |   By Pr0r3p

    Version: R-Drive Image 3

    Cons

I was able to successfully backup my laptop hard drive, however, when I attempted to do the restore, the software would hang at 40% complete after having taken over 24 hours to get to the 40% mark. The first email message I sent to technical support went unanswered. After waiting approximately one week, I resent email. The response I received was general in nature and wasn't relevant to the problem - it was information on were I could find the online manual and a blurb about how to use r-studio (again, not relevant to the problem nor the product that I have). I then called technical support several times, only to be greeted with a continuous ringing (don't they even have an answering machine?).

If you're looking for a backup program with a _good_ technical support, my experience says that this isn't the program for you. It's a shame I actually paid $44.95 for this software since I would have gotten more joy and satisfaction out of flushing that money down the toilet.

    "Trial version is useless"

    December 23, 2005  |   By bozno

    Version: R-Drive Image 3

    Pros

Works perfectly when taking an image of a hard drive or partition

    Cons

When you come to writing the image to a drive it tells you that you can't do anything with the image in the trial version.

    "Get WinXP back working"

    December 12, 2005  |   By Fdkjl1

    Version: R-Drive Image 3

    Pros

A virus distroyed my files, but it is a good thing that I backed up my C: drive by using R-DriveImage. I have quickly created a boot CD. After rebooting, I was able to restore my drive from an image file that was located on the D: drive. It did not take long time. So Now I got WinXP back working again.
