"This is from the author."
Version: Quick Zip 5.1.16
Pros
I am author of QuickZip, this is my reply the reviewers below:
QuickZip exists since 1999, it has NEVER install any adware, spyware, search bars or any other third party product, and it will never. The media player and shell registration kit is developed by me to browse the media (picture and documents) and register shell items (Associate, Context menu, Preview handlers), both are optional.
It was not developed for profit at all, instead, the main components of QuickZip (not the QuickZip itself) developed by me is released under open source LGPL license. With the release of latest "WPF FileExplorer" (search it on google) and "COFE2" (search it on codeplex) control, anyone can use my controls to build something similar to QuickZip5.1, except they cant use the name. Because of this, in this aspect, one can consider Quick Zip is open source software.Cons
Please noted that QuickZip5.1 has much much less features than QuickZip4.6, because it's build from ground again using .Net framework.

"Not a bad tool"
Version: Quick Zip 5.1.16
Pros
It has an intuitive, logical interface.
It supportsd Unicode encoding, so, your non-English file names won't be messed at the end.Cons
The installer is trying to install third-party programs, like Babylon search engine etc.
Summary
Take care to run the installer with admin rights.

"Works Just Fine"
Version: Quick Zip 5.1.16
Pros
It's FREE, simple, and it does the job.
Cons
You have to open the program itself and then find the file to zip to unzip. Not a big deal, but after years of using Winzip it's just minor inconvenience.
Summary
I guess the company listened to the previous two reviewers. I did not get any additional crapware installed with this program. The program works like a charm and it's free. I see nothing at all to complain about.

"QUICK ZIP???"
Version: Quick Zip 5.1.16
Pros
- None (unless you count the name)
Cons
- Does not work. Much better and faster tools available.
- Completely stalled my PC (I have 512 mb RAM and very few programs running)Summary
What's in a name? QuickZIP might be a quick zipper, provided anyone ever gets down to doing it. Installation was OK. The nightmare started when I opened the program. It took forever to load, the file browser was looking for files and looking...and looking...and gobbling up my RAM by the mouthful. I had no option but to frown and shut it down.
QuickZip installed 2 components apart from itself; a media player (Why???) and a shell extension registration tool which I decided to tackle next. The shell tool did not work, generated few .NET exception errors and gobbled up more RAM than Windows Explorer in one of its moods when I tried to register/unregister. I did not bother opening the Media Player as I had no idea why it was there.
I tried zipping few files from the Windows Explorer context menu. Nothing, no sound, no new zip windows, not even a tiny screen flicker.
I launched the program again giving it a chance to redeem itself.
The wild movements of my CPU and RAM meters had me scrambling to shut it down.
Since there was now a risk that my frown would create a permanent wrinkle on my brow, I Revo Uninstalled the program. There you go, no wrinkle :) -
"Never Worked"
Version: Quick Zip 5.1.16
Pros
Absolutely none.
Cons
Installed itself and two other programs - a media player and a shell program - then immediately started updating itself. Bad enough, but then it would never start or work.
Summary
DO NOT DOWNLOAD UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES - heaven only knows what havoc this might wreak with your computer.
