Pros
I was able to make changes in the text of the converted document through automation. Also, it enabled me to copy and paste the part of the text in the powerpoint presentation keeping the formatting intact.

Tried to generate a word doc from PDF with all kinds of different settings. Nothing in de doc. Then tried an image - again, nothing.
Checked the site and the 'awards'; the 2 out of 3 I could read, downloadtopc and cleansofts, are both malware sites. What does that say about this software..... -

Summary
This app isn't worth the download if you a in serious need of an OCR converter. Did nothing but spit out blank pages in Word, Excel, etc. Lousy.

Does the basics of converting a scanned pdf to a Word document, in that most of the scanned characters seem to get turned into Word text. 30 day trial period is good. I compared it side by side with 123PDF Converter and the interfaces and output are basically identical, but this program has a longer trial period, and you can purchase a version that converts to Word only for $29.99 instead of $39.99 for the whole package.
Cons
When I used the program to convert a pdf that has two columns and figures (basically any research or magazine article, in other words), it inserts hard carriage returns at the end of every column, jams a lot of words together, and inserts weird little sections of text in different font sizes. The worst part is that it goes bats**t wherever an image appears. Areas where there should be an image are instead filled with strings of random letters in different sizes (from 2 or 3-point to 20-point) that flow into the other column and make the other column's text jam together vertically so that it's unreadable unless you manually remove the "image" line by line.
Summary
Use only if you're desperate and have nothing else--which is likely, considering the state of OCR software. Sucks, but is probably better than retyping more than a couple of paragraphs of text by hand.
