"Great Programming tool. Love the Macros."
Version: Programmer's File Editor (32-bit) 1.01
Summary
I have been using PFE for years. I love it. The Macros are great for data and program editing. Easy to use. The key defs allow you to make it match the other programs you use a daily.

Version: Programmer's File Editor (32-bit) 1.01
Summary
Macro/dos access, text file templates, page headers/footers on printouts (and more print options like line numbering), mailto function and it can act as a DDE server... All from a non-installable exe file... Thanks!

"Ugly version of notepad"
Version: Programmer's File Editor (32-bit) 1.01
Summary
Other than macro recording (who uses these anyway), this is notepad made ugly!

"Golden Oldie"
Version: Programmer's File Editor (32-bit) 1.01
Summary
This program is no longer in development, but it has excellent features, including the ability to create file groups, create file associations, complex macros, smart code indenting, create template for different languages (one of my favorites), etc. etc. It also doesn't hog resources like MOST of today's useless "programming" tools. It loads fast, searches fast, and the programmer can work fast, as well. Instead of taking 1-2 minutes to load on high-end systems, and ever longer to perform complex search & replace tasks (yuck!) I recommend no other editor for programming & editing. Ignore all the negative comments about PFE (unless syntax coloring is the end-all requirement for you). If you want syntax coloring, then go buy a box of crayons! ;)

"An excellenat program nothing else like it."
Version: Programmer's File Editor (32-bit) 1.01
Summary
I have used this program in various forms for some time now, each time a new version has come out the program has improved, I don't think it could be improved any further (I could be wrong). I could recommend this program to anybody looking for a cheap and reliable text editor.

"THE text editor for programmers."
Version: Programmer's File Editor (32-bit) 1.01
Summary
Color-sensitive editors are for newbies and VIM is clunky compared to PFE. Don't get me wrong, I use vim exclusively, when on Linux machines. But, it's exclusively PFE when on Windows machines.
To those that don't believe PFE ever hangs: you're mistaken. Try opening a buffered (still open) IIS log file sometime. PFE hangs 100% of the time. Yes, you have to open these log files in this scenario when you need real-time lookups. Incidentally, notepad doesn't hang when opening the same file. Just a minor PFE bug...
I've been using PFE since 1998 (or before -- been that long). I still put it on every machine I work on, anywhere. Get it. Use it. Love it. The keyboard macro recorder/player/library is invaluable.
