"Looks like it could work, but very limited options."

    September 19, 2006   |   By BigDAS

    Version: ProBNC IRC Bouncer 2.6

    Pros

This program appears to work to a certain degree. Connection is solid via any IRC client proxied to LocalHost Port 50.

    Cons

Without proper documentation, it's impossible to configure properly. I have yet to get it to detect other than the Default IP on any IRC client, although there must be way. Keep posted.

    Version: ProBNC IRC Bouncer 2.6

    Pros

Very simple interface. Easy to learn.

    Cons

Couldn't keep a connection via mIRC. *shrug* Maybe you'll have better luck.

"I had no problems, but did miss a bit of documentation."

    November 12, 2002

    Version: ProBNC IRC Bouncer 2.6

    Summary

ProBNC works well, I experienced no problems using it under WinXP. The bouncer is pretty easy to use, but a readme file would have been handy in the beginning. I found this better than its competitors on this site. Only thing I missed was a possibility to force the bouncer to remain connected to the server to keep a nick. Hopefully this will be added if we see a new version of this bouncer coming. Anyway, excellent work.

"Excellent - does what it's supposed to"

    October 14, 2002

    Version: ProBNC IRC Bouncer 2.6

    Summary

This is NOT an IRC client. It is simply a proxy or "bouncer" which allows you to run a proxy on your machine so yu can connect to IRC from a firewalled machine elsewhere.
I use this program to connect to IRC from college - easy to use ONCE YOU'VE FIGURED OUT HOW and very fast and stable. Excellent.
