    "Never been treated worse"

    Pros

    Installs the basic version fast, basic version is free.

    Cons

    French company. Don't count on any help or polite people. They lie to you to get you to buy modules they, then, don't support. Very rude.

    Summary

    The prestashop people and product are a complete disappointment. There are many security holes they don't tell you about. Last year a hacker got into their main server and then hacked to ALL the shops around the world who used prestashop. Why? So that they could have a door to sell you stuff when you logged into your backoffice. So greedy.

    Buyer beware:
    If you buy modules and themes you're on your own. Before I bought a theme I asked if it came with some support and they said "sure, we have 24-7 support". When it came to an issue with a freshly installed theme, before even try to help me they said "Sure, you can purchase our support programs" which are up to $1400.

    Immediately after we got the theme the order summary page shows an update for it so we contacted them and .. no answer. When asked why they don't answer the answer was "oh that's because those emails go to France". Really?? Is that a good excuse?

    Sadly when ordering the theme we didn't see there was an option to get future updates for about $30 more. Sure, our bad. We asked if we could pay those $30 afterwards to get that option. The answer was that we had to buy the full theme all over again PLUS the upgrade option. Seriously?
    It feels like they made me download an old version so that I was forced to buy the upgraded version.

    Oh, yes, if you say there is an issue with the purchase their excuse is that they sell 3rd party software so they can't help you.

    Horrible experience. Look for something else.

    "For those proficient in SQL only!"

    Pros

    Very pretty, well-organized, intuitive backoffice layout.

    Cons

    Doesn't work.

    Summary

    Unless you're a high-level SQL programmer, don't use PrestaShop. Host tech support doesn't understand it and has little to say but "ask Prestashop," and Prestashop only provides support to those who purchase pricey corporate subscriptions. You're supposed to comb through bulletin boards and try solutions submitted by volunteers, which as often as not compound the problem. Months of work down the tubes with nothing to show.

    "The Only Cart We Use"

    Pros

    - Open-Source
    - Modular, flexible, scalable
    - Light weight and fast (especially compared with Magento) yet equally or more capable
    - HUGE developer/user community
    - Constant upgrades
    - Endless 3rd party integration opportunities (ie. Presto-Changeo.com modules)
    - Good default themes, and lots of free modules available

    Cons

    - Initial version releases tend to be buggy (wait to upgrade until a major new version becomes more stable)
    - The upgrading process can be difficult

    Summary

    We build ecommerce sites exclusively for B2C, B2B and everyone in between, often with unique requirements and/or highly customized user experiences, and Prestashop is the only cart we use and it has not let us down yet. It's open-source, PHP based, so with the right resources and planning, it's 110% customizable... Everything is possible.

    "EXCELLENT TECH SUPPORT!"

    Pros

    Moise was a tremendous help! Even when I called back because I was STILL unable to execute, he stayed with me until we figured it out! Excellent person, great help and wonderful company to deal with starting with the upbeat telephone operator!!! Thanks for EVERYTHING!

    Definitely a Company worth using - even if only because of the great customer support!! Thanks again!

    "Excellent Tech Support"

    VERY GOOD SUPPORT! MOISESS HELP ME ALOT. HE TOOK HIS TIME WITH ME AND GAVE ME GOOD TIPS. I WAS UP AND IN RUNNING IN NO TIME.

    "the best if you remove all tracking/phishing items"

    PrestaShop is a great software and really easy to use. I recommend it if you have some developer skills to remove all prestashop tracking things (see the "cons" part).

    Cons

    Security threat: PrestaShop steal your email : when you log in to the administration panel, your email is sent to PrestaShop server and they send to you spam. I found a way to disable this : Open the file /[your admin dir]/ajax.php , and go to the line 658, which starts by

    $content = @file_get_contents ...

    replace by

    $content = @file_get_contents($protocol.'://www.prestashop.com/partner/preactivation/preactivation-block.php?version=1.0&shop=do-not-track-me&protocol='.$protocol.'&url=google.com&iso_country=gb&iso_lang=en&iso_lang=1&email=dont-scam-me@gmail.com&date_creation=2012-04-01&v=1.4.8.2&security=bruno', false, $stream_context);
    $content = true;


    A few month ago, PrestaShop server has been hacked (the website was down for a couple of hours) and maybe their database has been downloaded, (including our account number, email, and personal datas).

    Summary

    better than Magento because it's easier to use and install, and OpenCart may be "too young", but the phishing part is really a bad point.

    "Excellent e-commerce tool! 5 out of 5 for service alone"

    Pros

    I'm not a developer, but a content professional. I need development tools that allow me to create full-service e-commerce solutions for my clients. PrestaShop gave me that--and much more! Benjamin Utterback, a support staffer, provided me with patient, excellent customer support. I felt like my issues were well attended with care and concern for my company.

    Cons

    The user manuals for each upgrade should be free for users, especially since we're willing to pay for templates, etc.

    "Great customer service!"

    Pros

    I am very impressed with the support I have received to date. I am a newbie to the online store industry and Benjamin Utterback has been very patient and understanding. He answered a ton of questions and ultimately gave us the confidence to go forward with the installation. I have not been pressured in any way, but am aware of various options available to support the product.

    I have not had much time using the software yet, but based on my extensive research it appears to be robust, user friendly and has a great community behind it.

    Cons

    Not aware of any at this time.

    Summary

    I look forward to really learning the software, particularly knowing I have a great safety net if I need it. Thanks again Benjamin for all your help!

    "Great Service, Great Product"

    Benjamin and Liz helped me out greatly I have spoken with Benjamin five times now and we are switching every customer we have to Prestashop due to all the help we received, Use this as your Cart Solution
