This muscular disc-imaging utility is not kidding around (though we thought the demo might be). PowerISO lets you mount virtual drives, create bootable discs, and generate CD and floppy images. It supports a huge number of image formats, including standard ISO and IMG files as well as files created by almost all popular disc-burning programs such as Nero, CloneCD, and Alcohol120%.

Our one major caveat is that the trial version doesn't let you create images larger than 300MB (most CDs hold 700MB), making it much harder to fully test the product. On the other hand, the trial period is unlimited, so some users may actually prefer this arrangement. Trial restrictions aside, we think PowerISO makes a good pick for intermediate to advanced users.

"Very FAIR product"

May 22, 2011  |  By Mikel72

 |  Version: PowerISO 4.7

Pros

Easy to use

Cons

None so far

Summary

I gave this product 4 stars because I just did the basic job: to get files from my ISO file (extraction) I must say everything was smooth and easy, I did not try this software at 100%, I am sure has more option, but I have to say do the right job.

"great for multitasking"

May 15, 2011  |  By Jamesf90

 |  Version: PowerISO 4.7

Pros

runs awsome and is a vital tool with virtual work and backing up.

Cons

no linux, unix support

Summary

use if you want an all-around disk image or virtual drive manger

Updated on May 26, 2011

works well in kvm for windows, hope they update soon at least before linux kernal 2.8 for better hardware support. Does work well inside windows alone, but wouldnt recommend to use across multiple operating systems. Also performance is very well on low profile machines.

"featuring something unique"

January 03, 2011  |  By jetpropulsion

 |  Version: PowerISO 4.7

Pros

CDFS optimizations,Proprietary disk image compression (.daa),x86 and x64 (Intel64 and AMD64) support,Clean GUI,Lifetime registration,Shell integration,Virtual drives support (as many as OS supports),Excellent stability,Excellent Quality Assurance

Cons

Almost none

Summary

CDFS optimization means that PowerISO will never write duplicated file physically to the media unless it is told to do so (feature is called "File optimization" and it is controlled via Image Options menu) - tis way, for example, you are able to write one complete Microsoft OS branch (let's say x86 Windows 7 Home, Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate) on one 4.7GB DVD; this feature can not be found in much more expensive products designed for the same purpose.
Proprietary disk image compression feature achieves compression ratios available with LZMA compression algorithm (implemented in 7-zip archiver by Igor Pavlov); don't expect gain on video images or pictures; this general compression method is more suitable for source-code, symbol packages, dictionary files, post script files and text in general. PowerISO works with the latest (Windows 7 at the moment) 64-bit OS, it's integration in the OS is seamless and very robust.
Lifetime registration - since the day I purchased PowerISO, all new versions are available to me, using the same serial number, so if you think that PowerISO is expensive - think again.
I'm recommending PowerISO to you - in an installation under 2MB (!!!! - compare this to some other CD/DVD burn tools providing the same functionality...) you'll get perfect set of tools complementing even Windows 7 Ultimate features. Contact me if you want to check that I'm only the customer (not related to author in any way - he is Chinese and I'm Serb :) I'm writing this because of so many pathetic individuals around misusing anonimity to convince you in excellence of their "products".
