Nice try. Its just about the only thing out there that does this that is simple and free.
Crash and burn!
Why is it so impossible to find a simple line drawing program that lets you snap to grids and corners of shapes that is not a bloated 3D CAD program? Is there nothing out there that is as simple and flawless as MacGraph did back in 1985? Why do we have to have all of these fancy 3D features when all we want to do is draw a simple interconnected 2D shapes? Even Paint.net misses the boat on this!
After hunting far and wide I came across PowerDraw. At first it looked promising. I could actually draw an accurate rectangle based on the golden ratio! Amazing! It took a while to figure out how to duplicate it like graph paper but it looked like it could do it. Then the problems started. It would pop up an error whenever I wanted to do anything. Even attempting to kill it with the task manager popped up the same modal error! Egads.
One of these days some smart software engineer will make a SIMPLE 2D vector drawing program that can make shapes that snaps to grids and corners without trying to make it the next greatest 3D CAD program. Until then Ill have to dust off my Mac 2e.
I go to most sites to see if a program is FULLY FREE! This program is not free, it is shareware!!!
This little beauty does what it says it will do. it's a great little free cad program with loads of features including splines, bezier curves, polylines, hatching, fills and lots more. It works wonderfully on a vista machine also which is something I can not say for the others I have tried.
a help button in the program would be nice but the help is there externally so I can't really complain about that.
My initial assessment is that it is intuitive and easy to use for anyone familiar with Microsoft product formats. It is what I have been searching for without the need to be familiar with CAD software. I like it and thank you to the developer for making this available as freeware.
It reminds me or apple works drawing for Windows, but not as easy to look at, but easier to draw with. It tries as much as possible to easily make the drawing what you want. Its free!
