"Works better than other tab/music editors I have used."

    January 26, 2011  |   By leonsoles

Version: Power Tab Editor 1.7 build 80

    Pros

Easy to use, and the midi sounds good.

    Cons

Needs more keyboard shortcuts, or if they are available, they need to be easier to find.

"Simple but effective. Works very well..!"

    October 25, 2010  |   By LatinHeat88

Version: Power Tab Editor 1.7 build 80

    Pros

Easy to use and understand and really works well. Basic interface not that of Guitar Pro but it's Free and an Awesome product. !

    Cons

No real Cons for a freebe. Interface is a bit basic and it the program lacks a lot of the fancier features of pro editors -i.e. Guitar Pro., but the program work well and gets the job done.. Did I mention It's FREE..!.

    Summary

All in all I'm really surprised and satisfied with this Program. It may not be on par with Guitar Pro (I have Guitar Pro 5 and love it.) as it lack the look, feel and many of the features of a professional editor. Yet, at the same time It's a lot easier to use and undertsand and even provides useful tips that I found answerd my questions before I even asks them. All in all inspite of it's no frills appearence this program in and of it's self is very good and will surely get the job done with ease. Cash strapped, budget minded inspiring musician or hobbist, Pro and Non-Pro alike would be folish to pass this program up without giving it a try. Recommended. A solid four Stars., Satisfaction guaranteed..!

"Smart program, great for any guitar player"

    September 21, 2010  |   By lindsayoden

Version: Power Tab Editor 1.7 build 80

    Pros

So much! This program has a ton of features and it pretty much covers everything you need for tabbing.

    Cons

The sheer number of features makes finding the simple stuff hard. Inputting chords can get tedious.

    Summary

If you use or make tabs for guitar, you need this product! It takes some getting used to, but in the end its features are fantastic. I recommend this to all of my musician friends.

    "Great program for the price."

    March 9, 2010  |   By kenny555

Version: Power Tab Editor 1.7 build 80

    Pros

Small program that does alot. Plays the tabulature with your midi.

    Cons

Well, the midi sound is a bit cheesy, but it's decent enough for free.

    Summary

I use it to play back the tabulature to see what the song is supposed to sound like, and it works good for that.

"I wish I could get it work in Windows 7"

    December 9, 2009  |   By CanadaRandall

Version: Power Tab Editor 1.7 build 80

    Pros

I really like it. It is not difficult ot learn and for simple licks, it is great.

    Cons

Right now I cannot get it to work in Windows 7 so that is a problem
And there is no way to ask a question at the powertab site so I am posting this here.

    Summary

I really like Power Tab Editor. Well, that is until I moved to Windows 7 this past weekend.

I tried a lot of my software and so far everything except Power Tab Editor seems to work.

When I try to bring Power Tab Editor up, it displays a screen saying "You must use a video resolution of 800x600 (or greater) to run using Power Tab". My resolution was above that so I tried different settings and always the same problem.

If you have not used this software, I recommend it. There are a number of tabs that you can download and it actually plays the song for you. Well unless you are me and you just went to Windows 7 and it does not work. (:

I went to the Powertab site but they only have FAQ and there is nothing there to help.

    Thanks for listening

"The tab editing is the only thing good."

    September 5, 2009  |   By Justsomeguy101

Version: Power Tab Editor 1.7 build 80

    Pros

It's easy to edit tabs and play them.

    Cons

The guitar that plays the notes for you is annoying and sort of sounds "beepy." Some of the tab numbers you can't read easy because there is a line going through the number.

    Summary

This is a software to have for when you're browsing tabs and the only tab there is is a power tab. It's nothing compared to Guitar Pro. I would recommend this product but just don't expect awesome out of it. It's only good feature is editing.

"Great for getting music and for transcription"

    May 7, 2009  |   By keithsnyder

Version: Power Tab Editor 1.7 build 80

    Pros

Pretty easy to use once you get the hang of how it wants you to use it. Can use either the mouse or keyboard to navigate. Customizable for other than 6-string instruments.

    Cons

Changing notation symbols is a bit difficult.

    Summary

Maybe I'll rate it higher once I get to know it better. For just downloading tabs, it's kinda automatic, but I needed something to help figure out some songs I see people playing but don't know chords, especially jazz chords, well enough to learn techniques or progressions just by watching. With this I can watch a video, slow it down, and key in fingerings.
